With damp rag in hand, Shoto wiped one of the many many windows inside the castle clean. Pulling away, the boy smiled and nodded proudly to himself, finding not a single stain left on the now spotless glass.
"Alright, I'm done with the windows in this hallway. How about you, Yaoyorozu?" Hearing no reply coming from the aforementioned girl, Shoto called out once more "Yaoyorozu?!"
And yet again, no response. Deciding to just go and check on her, the boy made his way around the corner then into another hallway. And sure enough, he finds an oddly familiar scene.
Instead of cleaning the window, which was what she was tasked to dohe may add, she was starring at whatever was beyond it. He could even here faint music coming from the outside, the very same festive music he heard from earlier. He began making his way towards the girl, but he made sure not to startle her this time.
"Seriously, what suddenly got you slacking off anyway?" Shoto joked with a chuckle before resting a hand above his hip. "Did you even clean the windows in your hallway?"
"Can't a lady just enjoy the show in peace?" Momo responded teasingly without even sparing him a single glance. "Also, I've been long done way before you even got to your third window!" She smirked the last part quite smugly, making the boy playfully roll his eyes.
Shoto then decided to follow Momo's gaze, landing on the very sight beyond the window they stood near. There a crowd gathered, forming a large open circle in the very middle, giving enough space for musicians to happily dance in sync with the whimsical music they played. If those skirts and graceful movements weren't already a dead giveaway, every single one of the performers were girls.
"Now that does make sense!"
"The minstrels are as lively as ever!" Momo spoke in awe. "I can't wait for whatever exciting new plans they have for the festival tomorrow!"
"Festival?" Shoto confusingly asked as he turned to look at the girl beside him.
"Oh, you didn't know?" Turning to meet gazes with him, Momo then happily continued "Tomorrow is going to be the feast day of the holy man himself, St. Patrick. A festival is to be held to commemorate the day of his death of course. It may be tradition that we all attend church in the morning, but it's what happens after is where the real fun begins." Stepping away from the window, she added with a whimsical tone "Just imagine, there will be music, singing, dancing and how can I forget all the delicious food?"
Every word she ecstatically spoke, she gracefully spun and twirled around her heels, earning a chuckle from the boy watching her from his spot.
Planting her heels to stop herself from all that spinning, she adorably tucked both her hands behind her back and continued "And you know what's the best part? We all get to spend the entire day without to work!"
"It is a feast day after all!" Shoto remarked matter-of-factly, which ended both the scullion and scullery maid in endless laughter.
Then suddenly, Momo clasped her hands together with a loud clap before ecstatically saying "Oh, I know. How about we go together?"
"Huh?"
"You know, to the festival tomorrow. Just the two of us!"
The cheerful expression on her face soon turned timid and both her cheeks were starting to turn hot red and hot, but that beautiful smile still remained on her lips.
"You are going, right?"
The more Momo spoke about the idea of her and him alone together at such a festive event, the brighter her smile gleamed. And the more Shoto starred at the elegant smile across her beautiful face, the more he could feel both his cheeks slowly burn into a bright pink. How in the world could he say no to such a face? And the boy just couldn't help but curl up a smile of his own.
