From the strike of noon, I'm already back in Nashville. The appointment went well, and hopefully—I'm really hoping, there will be something to celebrate within a couple of months.
I would have loved to spend the day in New York, spending quality time with the love of my life. But sadly, duty calls, and I'm required to be present at the restaurant right now.
There are five groups of musicians, and two solo performers. I'm in my office, rubbing my temples, while Quincy takes down names and information. He's already narrowed down the list a few days ago, when he researched the applicants to suit my preferences, else there would have been a lot more performers here today.
"Miss Tape?" Quincy's eyes are plastered to his clipboard, as he enters my office and takes a seat. He relieves a loud breath, before looking up at me.
"You seem exhausted. Didn't sleep last night?" He shakes his head.
"I'm okay, ma'am. Would you like us to get started? I've already asked a group to start setting up on stage."
I'm excited to see the first performance on the remodeled stage. It's perfect and just the way I wanted it.
"Only if you lead the way," he smiles and heads for the door. I follow him with my hands clasped in front of me, and my own smile forming. He's a good kid, and makes me want to have a son, who would someday grow up to be as hardworking as him.
