I braced myself as Tessa shoved open the door, thinking I would find everyone in the room dead, or nobody there at all. But what we found there was not what we would have expected.
The four doctors who were in charge of Kathy's operation were working away, their eyes intently fixed on Kathy's leg. Or at least they were, before we stormed the room.
"Tessa what's wrong? Why are you wearing the gas masks in doors?" The doctors stopped what they were doing to face us all. All of their gas masks laid untouched on tiny tables along with other surgical instruments.
I took off my gas mask so I could speak, "The hybrids released the death gas through the air conditioning. Everyone else inside the building is dead." I said, puzzled. Then, a thought struck me.
I opened the door and looked. The green gas pooled towards us, but had stopped coming. It was as if an invisible wall was blocking the gas from coming through. I then noticed that the gas stopped right where a new air vent started. I could hear it blowing something out, but whatever it was must have been clear. Tessa walked up beside.
"I think Blaire told me about this." She started, "She developed an
anti-sleep-gas in case the gas was accidentally released inside the base. The anti-gas clashes with the formula in the death gas and prevents it from moving forward. It's the equivalent of placing an indestructible wall in front of the gas.""But why would they want to stop the gas near the operation room?" Micheal said as he came to stand next to me.
"Who knows?" Claire replied. "I'm sure it's all part of some genius plan."
There was movement in one of the operation rooms when one of the doctors spoke, "Guys, I think you'll want to see this."
