Zaun was a dark and rotten place for someone from Piltover, but was if there was a place even darker? The deepest ground shows the true misery of the world, nothing but the cold truth. Sick people were coughing their lungs out, deadly deformations defining their suffering. They're the product of selfishness and powerful psychopaths, whose backs weigh too much power. Onyx's Footsteps echoed between tall rocks and sent dust and dirt vanishing in the thick air. Normal people would be afraid to walk in a cage full of monsters. But hell, how is it possible to not loose your mind in this shithole?
Hooded figures stumbled their way from one place to another, walking in an endless circle of pain. Seeing them keeping their heads low, afraid they might scare their only light, made her heart burn. Not with pity, but with a fire that never could be blown out, a fire that had been growing over the years, tearing her apart but pushing her forward at the same time. Her eyes saw only one big destination. Stop Silco's Shimmer empire, take revenge for Vi, Claggor, Vander and Mylo, find out who your parents really were, slap Sevika with cheese and most importantly find Powder. Deep inside she feared that she endured all this for nothing, that she won't ever be able to find Powder, because she was long gone. The thought made her heart bleed out so she kept herself in the illusion she is okay. Because if she wasn't, it would kill her. A rose without sunlight witheres until dry leaves of the once ethereal flower hit the ground, leaving nothing but a h faint memory of what once had been. So she grew thorns, cutting everything in her way, reminding herself who she fights for and where she belongs. The sweet thought of getting rid of the thorns one day made her smile slightly, there was only one person who could make her shine again.
"Onyx...you came back." Her head turned around to the smaller figure, who stood there, eyes pinned to the ground, ashamed of what he had become. His voice bloomed with long lost hope. Hands on her hips she rolled her eyes playfully. "hell yea, I missed your pretty face!" He lifted his face with a deadpan exposing his deformed face, strong purple veins slithering beneath his skin. He chuckled as he couldn't keep a serious face and showed her to a brighter area. 4 other people gathered around us, their faces half crazy and half thankful. Well that's a start...
Sitting down on one the rocks, Onyx carefully took out her transformed shimmer. Releasing the air from the needle she motioned the first mutant to sit down. After turning his forearm upwards and adjusting the angle, she quickly pushed the needle into his sore skin and watched the blue liquid neutralize the purple in his veins. After pulling the needle out carefully, she cleaned the spot and bandaged it perfectly.
Her gaze softened at the sight of the relieved look on his face, as the purple veins vanished and the deformations lost their toxic color, slowly adjusting back to the once normal shape. It wasn't completed. Onyx came here since a long while. At first once a week, then twice and now almost everyday. She made it her job to free them of their suffering. It felt like she heals too, somehow. She felt useful and needed. They had no one else left.
"Thank you..." her eyes locked with his, now watery blue orbs. "We made great progress, only two more injections and you are free to leave wherever you want to go, start over." She put her hand on his shoulder squeezing is reassuringly, earning a thankful smile in exchange. Time went by and the other people got their injection too, leaving only a few ampoules for next time.
She was about to leave, before being embraced in a gentle hug. It's that mousy man. Remembering names were not really her thing, good things they haven't noticed she couldn't remember any of their names. "Stay safe. I- no we know what you're doing for us, for undercity. Silco is dangerous, don't go too far for us." he sounded helpless. But hell, I'm not letting them down. "don't worry about me, I just started, you'll see." And with that she took a dive in the black night, only feeling the comfort of the bedsheets that hugged her frame warmly. A warmth that kept her alive, yet couldn't melt the ice in her withering heart.
~time skip 3 days
Burning liquid rushed down her throat, warming up her insides, sharpening her fiery mind. Her seventeenth birthday was coming up, reminding her she's still alive. Reminding her...it's been nearly 6 years without her. A damn long time for someone who lives without that one things that keeps them alive.
At this point, Onyx had no idea what she just drank, but it felt good and it was a bartender's 'special'. Curiously, her eyes traveled through the last drop, scanning everything with an unnoticeable presence. A few people drank their sorrows away in a corner of the bar, debating if they should vomit or take the next shot. Some people were dancing in flashing lights, blue and red flashes danced in the air, making her view flicker. Some guys danced with some girls. Some people 'quietly' talked about midnight. Their voices sounded excited, as if they have been waiting for someone to change this shit here, other people complained about midnight ruining their drug business and scaring their customers. She rolled her eyes at them, concentrating on the dance floor again, sitting chilled on a bar stool, leaning with her back against the counter, holding her drink in her right hand. The music was loud and beamed in her head. It was a good song though. "~You're such a strange girl, I think you come from another world~" The song began (the perfect girl- Mareaux)
Her eyes traveled from a few of Sevika's business partners to the dancing people. Sighing she turned on her seat, placing her empty drink on the counter, waving the bartender over. The bartender-whatever his name was- gave her a nod, finishing some other order first. Leaning her head back she closed her eyes to enjoy the song. "~You're such a strange girl, I want to be with you. I think I'm falling~" singing softly along, Onyx felt a tap on her shoulder.
Turning to the stranger, she looked up and down, not recognizing the slightly okay looking girl. "You seem to have a lot on your mind." She leaned against the counter, avoiding eye contact, probably nervous. "Yea, the loud music creates an interference in my head. It shuts up my thoughts for a while." Onyx answered, supporting her head with her left hand.
The girl sat down on the stool next to her and fiddled with her hands. "What's an interference?"Onyx observed the girl before answering. "An interference is the superimposition of two sound waves. In that case, the sound is either supported and multiplicated or erased. To sum it up, it puts my mind at ease." the bartender now arrived and prepared two shots. The stranger smiled. "Sounds peaceful...I'll pay." She tipped the bartender.
I am already annoyed.
"My name is Zoe btw, what about you?" She took a sip. Geez. Fuck off. "Uh- my name's Ash." Onyx lied often, since everyone could be one of Silco's men.
"The name suits you..sounds pretty." She grinned.
"Thanks, yours too." She answered as cold as I could, trying to get rid of her...in a friendly way. She didn't look bad, she had long ginger hair, falling down her back in waves. Her green v-neck dress hugged her soft curves well and even though she had a rather shy posture, there was lust in her eyes. No thanks."Would you maybe- do you wanna..?" She started, Onyx ended her awkward attempt quickly. "dance with you?"
she nodded quickly, waiting for her to answer.
Swallowing her shot, Onyx held out her hand, just as a new song started. Maybe I should live...just for one night.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
