Sihmin, Junkyu, Haruto, Nori. As much as they sound like a group of buddies, they're not. They're the Suns and Moons of TIAH. And you can't see the Sun and Moon together, now can you?
A story of love and hate, friendship and rivalry and of course h...
"Does Jaehyuk know something about our deal?" Haruto asks keeping up with Sihmin's pace.
"He knew that I like Junkyu that's why I had to tell him the truth." Sihmin shrugs.
"No wonder he didn't want me to drive you home." Haruto rambles his thoughts.
"You're driving me home?" Sihmin asks rhetorically once she doesn't spot any of her friends at the parking lot either.
"Now it wouldn't be nice to leave the girl I'm courting, alone at this time. Besides I had to treat you too. So I somehow managed to convince Jaehyuk." Haruto leads her towards his car.
"The girl you're courting? Treat? Is it your birthday or something? Are you perhaps sick, Watanabe?" Sihmin asks sarcastically as they settle inside the car and buckle up their seatbelts.
"For your information, my birthday's still a couple of months away. I just wanted to treat you cause you helped me win despite Junkyu ordering you to lose. I don't like to feel indebted so let me treat you." Haruto explains his side and starts the engine.
"I didn't do you a favor. Just felt like winning a medal for myself." Sihmin states as a matter of fact and rests her back completely on the car's seat, dismissing the amused glances she was getting from the car's owner.
After a drive of 10 minutes, Haruto stops the car outside a dessert place as per Sihmin's request.
"Dine in or take out?" Haruto unbuckles his seatbelt meanwhile Sihmin follows behind.
"Let's just sit outside after buying something. I'm in serious need of some fresh air."
Haruto buys brownies and coffees for them, the pair make their way to one of the empty tables placed outside the shop. Once seated, they begin to enjoy their delicacies in silence.
"You know I've always been curious about something." Not enduring the silence any longer Haruto breaks it. Sihmin hums while the boy takes it as a cue to continue.
"How did you fall for Kim Junkyu?" Haruto questions.
"Now what do you mean by that?" Sihmin questions back without putting much thought into it, munching on her brownies.
"No offense but he doesn't match with you. You would suit someone who's an annoying dimwit just like you are. Junkyu's bad but not bad bad he's a good baddie. Besides he's a literal prick towards you." Sihmin passes a glare to Haruto at his choice of words.
"Stay in your limits, air head. Junkyu wasn't always like that. Your Nori's been influencing him too much these days. He used to take care of me, support me. He's been my best friend since last 8 years." Sihmin begins to walk down the memory lane. Haruto raises a brow, intrigued to hear more about how Sihmin ended up getting whipped for Junkyu.
Flashback Started
A 12 years old Sihmin walks down the school's hallway with her two minions trailing behind her. Student body as well as the the teachers passing by make way for her. Perks of being the daughter of two of the board's directors, everyone tried not to get involved with Lee Sihmin.
Guess that wasn't the case with everyone today as a boy pushes past Sihmin in a hurry.
"Asshole, watch where you're going!" Sihmin yells, annoyed by the fact that someone dared crossing her path.
The boy halts and turns around with clenched fists. Just by his looks, it was easy to tell that he was someone senior than Sihmin but as if she cared.
"Don't you know how to respect your seniors? Besides this ain't your private property. So stop causing a fuss." Flaring her nostrils at the chubby boy, Sihmin points her finger at him. The girl was clearly agitated by the boy's audacity.
"No one dares to talk to me in this tone, you son of a bi-" Before Sihmin could complete her sentence, a palm strikes across her right cheek causing everyone around them to gasp. Little Sihmin holds her now red stinging cheek, looking at the boy in front of her in disbelief. Never in her 12 years of life did she imagine someone slapping her on the face.
"Kim Junkyu can tolerate everything but his parents' insult. So be careful with your words next time." Junkyu warns the self-centered junior and turns around on his heels leaving Sihmin embarrassed of her doings.
Flashback Ended
"So you're telling me that you fell for him because he was the first guy to slap you?" Haruto asks sceptically.
"Well it was more of a liking at the first sight. My younger self really admired his guts so I pestered him to befriend me. And here I'm, head over heels for him." Haruto scrunches his nose upon hearing Sihmin's unrequited love's confession.
"That's such a cliche story, Lee." Haruto remarks causing the other one to retort.
"Tell me about yours then. I'm sure it'll not be any less cliche than mine." Sihmin takes a sip of her coffee to calm herself down.
Somehow the boy sitting on the next chair always made it difficult for her to stay sane. Haruto snickers seeing her pissed but decides to share his story nonetheless.
"There's not much to it. When Mashiho hyung, Yoshi hyung, Asahi and I came to TIAH as foreign exchange students, we weren't fluent in Korean. Nori and I were already acquaintances so she agreed to help all of us. She was really nice towards us and even added us to her friends' circle. That's how I began to like her." Haruto reveals their friendship's origin story.
"I wonder how that narcissist brat agreed to help you instead of bullying you all." Sihmin shudders at the thought of Nori being nice to someone without any personal gain.
"She may comes off as someone who's spoiled but believe me, she's not. She's blunt but brave and independent too. Most of all she doesn't let the problems around her get to her. That's what I like about her." In Sihmin's eyes, Nori was the exact opposite of what Haruto claimed her of being. Still the sincerity in Haruto's words was enough to make Sihmin have doubts about Nori.
Legends says that knowing your enemy is as important as knowing yourself. And the fact that Sihmin didn't know about Nori was only adding to her worries.
