" this just doesn't seem real" michaels thumb grazed the top of Stephanie's hand. " have you heard anything about Mady? Did the doctor come back?" Ashton's eyes met michaels, still burning red with the tears that had fallen moments ago. " nope. Nothing. But I'm sure they're giving her all their attention. So we shouldn't bother them by asking" Michael sunk into his seat, his eyes heavy with sleep. " is her hand feeling a little cold to you?" Michael gestured for Ashton to touch her, usually Michael was very protective of her so letting Ashton even feel her hand was a big thing. " yeah she does. Maybe that's normal?" Ashton shrugged, unsure of what to do. " do I tell someone? What do I do? Ashton I can't lose her" the words were flying out of his mouth, almost unable to be comprehended. " calm down. I'll go tell the lady at the front desk" and with that, Ashton left the room. Leaving Michael to deal with what was soon to come
Michael stood to his feet and hovered over Stephanie, cupping her face between his hands and speaking to her frantically. "wake up babe, wake up its ok we're ok" he shook her lightly, as her face began to blue. ashton entered the room with the doctor and rushed to michaels side, pulling him aside so the doctor could help. "nurse!" the doctor yelled, making Michael jump as he had heard the same thing earlier when Mady was taken away. He turned and shoved his face into ash's shoulder, unable to hold back the waterfall threatening his vision. They rushed her out of the room in a swift moment, leaving Ashton and Michael standing alone, the room vacant of all remaining hope they had before. Ashton's knees collapsed, and michael sat with him, both trembling in the last bit of hope they had. Calum and Luke eventually came in, joining them on the floor.
" why them? Out of all people?" Michaels voice trembled from behind Ashton's shoulder. " I guess bad things happen to good people but, they're tough. I just know they'll make it." Luke rubbed michaels knee, comforting Michael was something he never had to do, Michael was usually the happy one. " well. What now?" Calum played with his fingers. " I really don't want to leave." Michael whispered just loud enough for Ashton to hear. " yeah we don't want to leave, I mean you guys can." Ashton spoke for the both of them. " she was so blue, people aren't supposed to be blue. She was the color of my hair that one time. I knew something just wasn't right Ashton, I just knew it. Oh god, please don't take them yet. Please" Michael spoke to the sky, hoping someone besides the people in the room would hear him.
