" Calum, who are these people are why are they saying they're my best friends?" Mady looked up hesitantly at the only one she knew. " well, they are your best friends. You see Luke, the tall blonde one. We met him together, he had music with us. And Michael, the one with blue hair, he was there too. The girl, over there. That's Stephanie. You call her Steph. She's your best friend, you're with her every day, you talk constantly when you're not together. There's never a moment you're without that girl, she was even in the accident with you." He pointed to everyone in the room as he talked about them. The three stood up next to the bed, smiling at mady hoping not to overcrowd her and scare her. " whose that?" She spoke up, pointing to the boy sunken into the chair. "Well, that's Ashton but we're going to let him introduce himself aren't we guys?" Calum nudged Luke, Michael and Stephanie out into the hallway.
Ashton slowly rose to his feet, his hands shoved in his pockets as he padded over to the chair close to her bed. "Mady" he mumbled, still saddened. "You're the love of my life" he brought his eyes to hers, his lip quivering when they met. "I’m not sure if you’re going to remember me tomorrow, or in a week, or in a month or..." his voice cracked. "ever" He paused. "but ill always love you, even if you don’t know or remember us. Having you in my life was the best thing i could have ever asked for." His tears fell slowly, and he wiped them away as they came, completely exposed to her. He rose to his feet, the wood of the chair scraping the tile floors. A single tear fell from her cheek as he left the room, flashes of him entering in and out of her mind. She put her head down in shame, angry at herself that she was only able to remember little to nothing of him. She closed her eyes, and his face came in flashes, his voice filling her mind, his giggle echoing off of the walls, making her smile. She opened her eyes, pulling the IV out of her arm and rushing across the room and out the door. She stumbled out, still not used to walking as much, and fell into Ashton's arms, their eyes meeting as he pulled her up. She breathed heavily, and hardly got the words out before nearly collapsing to the ground. "Blink and the 182's" she huffed "march 19th" She smiled up at him, and his face burst with happiness, remembering their first concert together, seeing their favorite band. He pulled her into a tight hug, spinning her around as they both giggled, memories of them came flooding back as the sound filled her ears, and it was okay. Finally, everyone was okay.
