Five

Days slowly went by, my messages and calls unanswered, my thoughts nearly eating me alive. I needed to get a grip on reality, get out of bed and get Calum. If anyone knew who he was and where he would be it would be me. I swung my feet off the edge of my bed, setting them on the floor I felt the weakness enter my body. My unstable body nearly falling to the floor. I slowly walked across the room, bringing myself to the doorway and gripping the wall. " just get something to eat and drink Luke it will make you feel better" I heard Calums voice, turning around quickly I could've sworn I seen him. Sitting on my bed, the blanket over his legs and pulled up to his chin. " calum?" I called out, " calum, stop playing with me" I stumbled over to my bed, making a mess of the covers hoping to find him but, just finding a mess of tear stained pillows and crumpled sheets. I retreated back to them, his familiar smell still laying in their wake as I climbed under the sheets again. My senses were overtaken with him, lighting up my mind with bursts of our memories. Fireworks went off in my mind, his bright smile flashing behind my eyes. Adrenaline pumped through me at the sight, sending me off of the bed and hurling out of the bedroom, through the living room and out the front door, closing with a bang. The keys were already in my hand, and I clicked the button to open the door as I trudged towards the car, Michael, Ashton and the girls appearing at the door, rubbing their eyes as I jumped into the car, and twisted the key in the ignition. Ashton realized first, and ran yelling towards the car, but I was already gone, speeding away from the house and towards Calum. My thoughts flew as fast as the car sped down the highway towards the city. He had to be somewhere, where else would he go beside the center of town? He has no other home, no where else to go. Thousands of miles from his family, where could he have gone? Memories flashed passed by my eyes like the headlights of the cars flying past me, and the image of where we first met blurred my vision, sparking my motivation. With no where to go, he'd turn to instinct, I thought. I felt his force pulling on my heart, and I knew precisely where to go. I yanked the steering wheel around, receiving loud honks from behind me as I whirled around on the busy city street. The tires skid across the pavement before I corrected the maneuver and continued forward down the street, completely careless of my surroundings as the force between Calum and I grew stronger. My eyes scanned the streets before I came to a screeching halt, Calum's tiny body curled into a ball on the metal bench just outside All Coast Records, our only local music store, and the place we first met. The memories flashed through my head as I pulled into the nearest open parking spot, sloppily pulling the car into the opening. The store was rather popular, and I'd gone there after school to look into a new guitar, one I'd had my eye on for ages now. Calum walked in and I gave him no notice, until he started to make quite the ruckus. He cursed quietly under his breath shortly after pulling it over his head, the strap tangled behind him as he circled frantically, unable to reach it. I chuckled and walked over to him, grabbing his shoulder to stop him, and the bass from hitting me before he made another circle. His caramel eyes flashed to mine, before dropping back down, embarrassed, as I turned him around to fix his strap. "Hold it mate" I told him, taking the strap off of the end and flipping it a couple times before reattaching it to the knob on the bottom of the bass. The tag flung flimsily around before I grabbed it, curious which make it was. He watched as my eyes widened, inspecting my expression. "Gibson SG 2014 I see" my mouth gaped open as I flipped the tag, my eyes landing on the price. He rubbed the back of his neck nervously. "Yeah, only the best" he let out a soft chuckle, before we broke into conversation over the plethora of guitars and bass's litering the store, and eventually walking back to my house as we'd found our interest's in bands were extremely similar. I shook out of my flashback, suddenly aware of my position. I stood only yards away from him, just across the street, my feet weighing heavily on the ground as my eyes scanned his shivering body. "C-Cal" I whined, my voice hoarse at the sight of him. I pulled my feet from the concrete and began to run across the street, carelessly jumping in front of vehicles as they came, my eyes only on Calum. Their honking horns woke him from his sleep on the bench, in time for his eyes to meet mine, their bright beams making my heart jump as I raced towards him. "Calum" I yelled this time, the fire inside of me devouring my entire body now, as I got closer to him. "Calum! Calum!" I yelled again, my smile tearing across my face as tears streamed down my face. "Luke?" I heard his soft voice speak, barely audible. I was halfway across the street now, only feet from him. He rubbed his eyes before bringing them back to mine, and they widened suddenly. "Luke? Luke! Luke!" he yelled, but his face didn't spell happiness. It was an expression of horror, and it wasn't until seconds later that I found out why, the hard concrete shattering through my bones on impact, and only Calum's face plastered in my mind.
