And someone did. The doctor cleared his throat, making all 4 of their heads whip up and look at him in unison. They all stood to their feet and approached him, as he leaned against the door frame. "what you saw was abnormal, and its glad you caught it michael" he almost smirked at his clipboard as he administered the information "she was having an allergic reaction to the antibiotics, and it was eliminating the oxygen from her blood" he looked over his glasses at the boys " Shes off of that now, and feeling much better, as a matter of fact" he turned around just in time for stephanie to be rolled past us on her bed, wide awake and healthily pink again. Michael latched onto the bed next to her, careful not to pull any of the tubes coming from her arm. Ashton ran his fingers through his hair, sending a small smirk to michael for reassurance, but still throbbing with worry. Calum finally spoke up "and Mady? how is she?" He pressured. "oh" the doctor stumbled. "sit down please"
" she isn't doing so well" the doctor cleared his throat as if he was holding back his own tears. " when the car hit, it slammed her ribs into the dashboard causing them to crack and puncture her lungs. We have to wait until she's stable to be able to do surgery and remove the bone shards from her lungs, that could take minutes or hours." Ashton's heart dropped into his stomach, if this was it.. What was he going to do? Without Mady there was no him. " is there anything I can do?" Ashton jumped from the seat hoping the doctor had an answer. " Well it did seem as if you being in the room helped her become more calm and stable. Why don't you come with me?" The doctor gestured Ashton from the room and down the hall. Michael, Luke and calum all gathered around Stephanie, although she wasn't awake yet, they could tell she was mentally there. " how about we take a selfie with her and show her when she wakes up?" Calum suggested, pulling his black iPhone from his pocket. " that's an awful idea! Let's do it" Michael laughed as the three boys crowded around Stephanie to snap the picture.
