I finally pieced together the story. Karda's story was always mysterious and strange, or... I mean my story. Somehow I came back... from the future. I came back to save myself. All he ever did was try to find the fragments and destroy them, never really knew why until now. He... I was trying to save myself. Save myself from turning into a monster, saving myself from going mad with power. That's what Karda meant when he would give the littlest pieces of information of why he was here. He was here to redeem himself for all the bad he has done. If he stopped his younger self from becoming powerful to the point where he can't control it... to the point where I can't control it... then all the bad I've ever done is suddenly... undone.

That's what he meant when he said he couldn't wait until all this was over so he could get his arm back. If he would have ever made it back be would have gotten his arm back... as long as I didn't lose mine. That's why Karda's pinky and ring finger were missing just like mine. He didn't lose them in the crash... he lost them because I lost them. Nothing but an old memory... an old scar. No wonder why he was so infuriated when I lost them.

I dwell on the whole coming back from the future and saving myself situation everyday, for most of the day as well. I even dream about it. After all there's not much else to do in a jail cell. The Commander didn't even kill me... he didn't try. He captured me, put me in here and plans on removing my arm for research. That seems pretty damn ironic to me, I end up losing my arm anyway. Or so he thinks... I'll die before I let that happen.

"Ryan, phone call." The guard says. I had one free phone call but had nobody to call. He inserts the key and slide the cell door open. I step out in the hall of cells. There's another guard waiting behind the first guard with a machine gun. He pushes me forward.

"Walk." He says. As I walk to the phones all the other inmates stare at me, stare at my arm mostly. I don't pay them any attention. I can't walk too fast, my ankles are chained together.

"Sit." He says, pushing me down into the chair. I pick up the pay phone off the table, not saying anything for a moment... just listening.

"Hello?" I say.

"I'm coming for you." A woman's voice says, then I hear nothing but nothing... Kasandra.
