Our Redemption

Hi

My first red carpet premiere and I am terrified which sounds crazy I know considering the fact that I go on stage almost every night in front of hundreds of people but this is different I'm playing a character then but this is me not some character which is what's terrifying but I have one of my best friends by my side "Your stunning" Ezra says when they see in the lobby of our hotel "Thank you so are you" I say and we head outside to the waiting car.

We arrive at the premiere and Ezra leaves the car first coming around to my side and helping me out and we're instantly met by flashes of cameras but they take my hand and we begin our walk on the red carpet stopping to pose for photos along the way before they separate us for interviews "Hi Aurora how are you. You look beautiful loving the floral and the bold makeup" the interviewer says "Hi. Thank you I'm a little nervous if I'm honest I've never really had this kind of experience before you know signing a few playbills after a show for fans is very different to this. I feel like I had to be a little bit out there to match Ezra" I say "You two are close friends which I think surprises people how did you become friends" they say "It does surprise people but we're actually quite similar we have similar interests and passions and we just gel well together. We met six years ago at a burlesque show in New York I was there doing Waitress at the time and some of the cast decided it'd be fun to go see a burlesque show and Ezra was there with friends and we ran into each at the bar started talking and somehow ended up on stage together and I woke up the next morning in their bed nothing sexual happened but we've been best friends ever since" I say "I love that story. It must of been a no brainer then when you found out you were starring in this movie with them" they say "I didn't know Ezra was in this until after I'd said yes. I'd been considering moving into the film industry for awhile and I wanted my first movie to be something completely opposite from the characters I've played on stage so this seemed like the perfect choice for me and Ezra being in it was just the icing on the cake for me" I say "You play two psychotic siblings who are going around killing people how do you prepare for that" they say "We watched alot of serial killer documentaries and interviews I had nightmares for weeks we watched all the Halloween movies and nightmare on elm street alot of a classic horror movies" I say "Well I was terrified of you both just watching the trailer so I can't imagine how I'm gonna feel once I've seen the whole movie. Thank you for talking to me and enjoy the rest of your night" they say and I move onto another one and once I'm done that I'm asked to do more photos this time on my own.

As I'm posing and looking at the different cameras I spot a familiar face also posing for photos who makes their way towards me "Hi" I say "Hi" Andrew says and we just stare at each other for a minute as the cameras flash around us and we turn to pose for the cameras before I'm pulled inside "We'll catch up later" I say "Yeah" he says. Sitting watching myself on a cinema screen is a weird experience but people seem to like it. I'm just glad I was able to make this with one of my best friends and have them by my side during all of this.

We stop at the hotel for a quick outfit change before we head to an after party our director is throwing to celebrate "I'll grab us some drinks you soak in our success by fishing for compliments from all these people kissing our asses" Ezra says "Okay" I say and I start walking around getting stopped by people congratulating me and handing me business cards for their talent agencies and magazines "It can be alot I know" Andrew says appearing by my side as I managed to escape for a little while at a table "This movie star thing is no joke" I say "You'll get used to it. People are just realising how talented you are" he says "Thanks. How have you been Spiderman" I say and he laughs "Good can't go anywhere without someone calling me that it's only gonna get worse when the second one comes out" he says "You never did like attention on you" I say "Neither did you yet you go on stage in front of hundreds of people and perform" he says "True but when I'm on stage I'm not me so I don't mind it as much" I say "I guess as someone who's always been in front of the camera playing a character and then having to talk about it as me I don't have that anymore" he says "You deserve all the success you've been having. I knew when we were kids you were gonna go on to do amazing things even when you couldn't make your mind up" I say "Same for you I just wished you had come to LA with me and we hadn't lost touch" he says "You know why I couldn't leave" I say "I know. But promise me now here that we both make more of an effort to be in each others lives I've missed you and I miss spending time with you. Most of all I miss my best friend" he says "I promise. I'll even start by asking you to have lunch with me tomorrow for a proper catch up" I say "Deal" he says and we've just finished exchanging numbers when Ezra appears "Ezra meet Andrew my childhood best friend and still close friend Andrew Ezra my replacement best friend because we haven't properly spoken in years until now" I say and they hug "Nice to meet you I love your work and thanks for looking after her I hope we can all be friends" he says "Of course we can. Plus I know we both know how incredible this woman is and the joy she brings to people's lives" they say and I hug Ezra "Thanks Ezra" I say "I'll see you tomorrow. Ezra hope to see you again soon" Andrew says and leaves us to it.

I take a sip of my drink ignoring Ezra's eyes burning a hole into mine "We're not gonna talk about you and your best friend/former first crush/first love looking all cosy and giving each other doe eyes at the premiere because you know the way you two looked at each other is gonna be all over the Internet tomorrow" they say "I know but we're just friends always have been" I say "If you say so but that man was giving me more than friends vibes when I walked over here" they say "Let's just get a little drunk and focus on our success tonight please" I say "Okay but I better be by your side when you marry that man one day" they say.
