KYLE'S P.O.V.

My entire life, I used to confidently beat my chest and say that I knew my mother, but the last few days, and today especially, had made me realize that what I thought I knew about her was only the tip of the iceberg.

At this point in my life, I thought nothing could ever surprise me again because, let's face it, I had seen and experienced a lot of things in the last few days that most people, even if they lived a hundred lives times, would never see or experience. But I was completely wrong. Ma taught me that as long as she was in my life, I could surely be surprised again and again.

Andrew, Becky, Matthew, Albert, Mum, and I were currently standing in the living room of a massive bungalow that had been abandoned for some reason.

But this was only the least of my surprise. What surprised me the most was that my mother, whom I had always assumed was a normal human being, was the same person who brought us here via a method that I had only recently learned from Miss Lillian was very possible: teleportation.

My mother teleported!

Miss Lillian had asked us to leave with my mother while she stayed behind and helped to throw the Sego off our scents, which of course didn't sit well with Albert, but she was later able to persuade him and me that she did be fine and would meet us here later.

Mom looked at me, our hands still laced from our recent teleportation, and I knew she could very well guess what was currently going through my mind.

She squeezed my hand and gave me a sad smile before looking around at everyone else who appeared to be as confused or tired of this situation as I was, and she smiled sadly at them as well.

"I know you're all curious, and some of you just want to go home." When Matthew nodded his head fervently, she laughed. "I understand dear. But for the time being, all I can offer you is answers. So, let's all get comfortable because "she turned to face me" it's going to be a long, painful, and eye-opening experience.

When mom had finished speaking, everyone found a spot to rest their butts on the dusty sofers of this strangely familiar living room, and then we all placed our attention on mom and waited patiently for her to begin.

"I grew up in a small town in the South, Bluefield had always reminded me of it." Mom began telling her story. "It was almost always spring there, which is why I loved it so much," she added sadly, but continued.

"My best friends, Silver, James, and I used to always daydream how we would someday leave our small town and move to the big city." Mom chuckled sadly at the memory and gently wiped the corner of her eyes.

"At the time, James and I were promised to be married, and we were head over heels in love with each other. The three of us would always talk about the wedding and how it would cement our already strong bond forever..." mom choked on her tears and vigorously wiped them away.

"I'm sorry, dear," she smiled at us, and I stood up and went to sit next to her, engulfing her in a hug without saying anything as I waited patiently for her to continue.

"As you can tell by now, our dreams never saw the light of day." More tears streamed down her cheeks, and I moved closer to her and patted her back until she was calm enough to continue.

"It was a cold December morning, a Wednesday, to be exact. They arrived, all five of them, three males and two females, to our town." Mom's face twisted in agony as she spoke.

"Who?" I asked, unable to contain my growing curiosity. She wrapped her arms around me and kept going.

"My town appeared to be like any other human town, but we were so different in so many ways that our elders always made sure the town remained hidden from humans and other supernatural beings."
