Ever since that day, I've been working myself to my limits since I don't want to face nor catch a glimpse of the black haired and ruby eyed male. For the sake of my heart and the manhwa's plot, I avoided him.

But of course, I can't keep on avoiding the lord magician since it would be too childish for me. However, I still need to do so! For the sake of Athanasia's happiness!

Athanasia was affected with my avoidance towards the male so I decided to play with her today. I teleported near the princess, without knowing that Claude was with her that time.

"Huh?" I blurted out when I saw them.

"Maui!"

Athanasia called out and was about to reach her hands towards me, but she stopped when she glanced at her father. I guess she realized that his mood will drop down if she wiggled out of his grasp.

"Blessings and Glory upon the sun and star of the Obelian empire." I rested my hand on my chest as I bowed down to 90 degrees.

"Maureen, what a surprise to see you here." Claude said and I remained bowing.

"Yes, it has been awhile, your majesty." I replied before standing up.

"It seems like Athanasia knows about your identity." I nodded and glanced at the princess and smiled.

"S-She's been taking care of me when I was still a baby! At least that's what Lily said.." Athy proclaimed and waved at me. I nodded in response.

"You did?" He questioned and I glanced at him.

"Yes, your majesty. She's her daughter, after all." He squinted his eyes a little at me. Even after these years, he'd still react like this when Diana's related.

"Despicable, you were one of the people who managed to survive." I smiled at him.

"That's because I escaped throughout the session of your grimace. Even if I was caught by your sight, I'm sure you wouldn't have had killed me." He scoffed at my response.

"D-Daddy, let's go! I'm sure Maui has many things to do!"

Athy quickly saved me because of how her father reacted. Even if she didn't do that, he wouldn't dare to kill me. I was Diana's most closest friend, after all.

"Then, I shall take my leave. Blessings and Glory upon the sun and star of the Obelian empire."

I bowed a little and teleported away.

After I crossed paths with Claude, he gave me an imperial order of renovating the ruby palace. Of course I quickly obeyed his orders since I kinda argued with him last time.

I'm now in front of the newly renovated ruby palace. Memories of Diana came to my mind like a wave. I smiled at the heartwarming moments that we shared together.

"I've been tolerating with your attitude these past days, but do know that my patience has it's limits, Maureen."

I widened my eyes when I heard his voice and quickly turned around to where the voice came from and I saw the annoyed expression that's plastered around Lucas's face.

"Oh, look at the time! I-I must go no-"

Before I can finish my sentence, I fell backwards and landed on something soft. When I opened my eyes, I saw Lucas's figure on top of mine which made my cheeks heat up.

"W-Wha..?"

I blurted out while I noticed that he's gripping on both of my wrists that are beside my head. I also realized that we're back in my room again. I looked at him with pure shock.

"How long will you keep this childish act of yours?" He questioned with a monotone voice which clearly didn't help my racing heart, not even a bit.

"H-Huh?" I blinked at him which made him click his tongue.

"Now, don't act clueless." I gulped.

"W-What did I even do?" He raised an eyebrow.

"You want me to point out the obvious? Fine. You've been avoiding me ever since the moment I asked if you were fine." He chuckled darkly at me which sent shivers through my spine.

"L-Lucas-"

"-Was I wrong? Was it wrong for me to be worried about your weird actions?"

His sudden question made me widen my eyes. The feeling inside me calmed down when I realized how serious the situation really is. I could tell from his eyes that he's not joking around.

"Luca-"

"-Tell me, Maureen. Am I wrong for worrying about you?" I worriedly looked at him.

"No, Luc-"

"-Then, why? Why did you have to avoid me?"

I was confused at his actions. He never had been like this, did he somehow changed because he slept for hundreds of years? Maybe because I'm his childhood friend. My heart winced a little.

"I-"

"-Did I do something wrong, Maureen?"

I widened my eyes when small beads started to form on the corner of his eyes. My mouth parted in shock, he quickly looked away and loosened his grip on my wrists.

What should I do? If I leave him now, things will never be the same between us anymore. But If I don't, then I'll have to tell him the reason why I was avoiding him.

Feeling overwhelmed, I didn't notice how my vision started to blurry until he looked at me with his teary eyes widened at the sigh of my glassy ones.

"I'm sorry..please don't cry."

He suddenly said and cupped my cheeks which made me look at him in shock. He started rubbing away the tears with his thumb. What he did next, shocked me more.

He planted a kiss on my eye then to my forehead.

I was too stunned to do anything when he looked down and moved away from me. He turned his heels around and walked out of the room, leaving me on the bed who's processing what just happened.
