Overwhelmed

Overwhelmed:

The voices around me overlapping, rising until i breakdown
All of a sudden I stop, I freeze and shut down
My mind overcrowded, becomes numb protecting itself from the insanity of the world
Rushing outside I take a breath of fresh air
And then another and another, so my mind doesn't panic or go elsewhere
Finally free outside, longing to stay
The loud voices in my head quiet to a whisper, for the time being remaining at bay
Knowing I can't remain, having to rejoin the overwhelming conversations and cries
I brace myself, taking a deep breath and stepping back inside.
