"Adam! I'm heading out." Adam's fixated eyes seemingly broke their focus. Hoisting his head up, he observed his boyfriend putting on a jacket, zip clacking as he slid it into it's designated slot. His grin spread ear to ear like that of a overzealous child. By Adam's standards, he looked ravishing. James would otherwise not be dressed in such a breath-taking manner if he were not going somewhere of importance; a party or social event.
"Where?" Adam couldn't help but ask. James' arms fell to his side, his face morphing to one of amusement speckled with sprinkles of love.
"That's an awfully protective thing to say, Bambi. I'm just going to hang out with some of my friends a few towns over." James crouched down, tying his shoelaces into bunny knots. Disadvantages, there were, born a left handed man he floundered at beginning to learn simple tasks such as tying his shoelaces or a tie. His twin sister lacked these disadvantages as a right handed woman. "Don't worry, honestly."
"I'm not. I just want to know where you'll be." Adam sunk into the comfortable fabric of the sofa. One foot after the other, James strolled over to Adam and took his head, a soft kiss breaking the layer of tension settling overtop of Adam. In that moment, Adam truly believed in James' safety. He envisioned, no, he expected, James to unlatch the front door after hours steadily elapsed and take Adam in his arms once more.
"I'll be fine, Adam. I'll be home by 10." James smiled softly against Adam's lips, "If you need anything, call me."
Adam nodded, albeit rather slowly. He'd hate to tear James away from his fun although the sentiment was meaningful in the heart of the shorter. Adam watched him step backwards, embracing James' presence. Combed to one side, his hair was, as unblemished as his pores. His eyes wrinkled at the sides as he smiled.
"Right! Well, I should get going! Goodbye, dear. Love you!" Exclaimed he, hands retreating to the spacious pockets of his jacket. Adam calling out his name stopped him in his tracks: a few paces from the doorway.
"One more thing," Adam breathed, "You look amazing."
"Agh, stop with the corny junk, you're gunna make me blush." James gave a stifled laugh into his hand, the precious silver ring visible on his ring finger. Adam was awe-struck; despite the fact that James was not Adam's fiancé, the promise rings showed his wholehearted devotion to Adam and nurturing the blossoming relationship. Cheeks pinkening, Adam gazed at his matching one, made of the same precious metal.
"I thought i'd tell you before you go. In case you forgot to tell yourself that. You're incredibly handsome."
"Stooooop," James whined childishly, taking his face in the palms of his well-kept hands. "I love you too.."
