See Reference, ADHD: Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a condition that affects people's behaviour. People with ADHD can seem restless, may have trouble concentrating and may act on impulse.

Symptom: People with ADHD are prone to hyperfixating on specific genre's or sub-genre's. Popular or absurd, it isn't uncommon to feel attached for an unjustifiable reason.

It's a normal day in James and Adam's shared home. Following the events of the previous work, James was lured out of his 'den' more and more frequently so times like this came habitually. The two men with contrasting aesthetics sat on the polar ends of the sofa's, silent as the gentle ambience embraces them. For them, it's common to strike a conversation whether slashing through the thick layers of silence draping overhead or as soon as their bodies sank into the cushions. On this occasion, Adam spoke unexpectedly, almost alarming James by the absurdity.

"Monkey's are cool, man." He said, James heard it clearly. Though he squinted, trying to comprehend such a statement. In that moment he thought perhaps he had heard wrongly.

"Monkeys?" James reiterated Adam's word. The latter nods enthusiastically akin to an overzealous puppy. "Yeah, I guess so. I can't say I really think about monkeys in too much depth."

"Yeah, but like- they're cool as frick." Adam hardly concentrated on his words, instead letting them freely spill from his mouth. James paid no heed. "They're so- agh, they're great," James' reaction time fell short of Adam's brisk, unexpected hand movements. In spite of the fact that his deep voice is thick with emotion Adam's hands acted subconsciously. "They're just great, dude."

"Right...you wanna...wanna talk about that, bud?" And laced in James' moderately squeakier voice when placed in comparison was scepticism. Bewilderment. Adam remained unperturbed.

"Fuck if I don't." Scoffed he. James could recall Adam turning his love for monkey's into animation, however that video only stretched a few minutes. Surely could he discuss a topic he was fixated on at length.

It was almost impossible to ignore Adam's voice, and James thought that was a good thing! If it weren't for itching to hear every word Adam uttered, he'd most likely be able to fall asleep to Adam's deep and soothing voice. It didn't go amiss that the pitch raised when saddled with excitement; James thought it was nice.

"Did you know monkeys can count? Like- they understand people numbers!"

"I saw this video of a monkey being pranked the other day. Oh my god- it was so cute, I can't even."

"Do you think it's legal to adopt a monkey?"

"Okay, no, that's probably illegal." Despite his strict and intense approach James made it most certainly evident he was joking around. Adam's expression mirrored a child when their parents, deprived of sleep and running off coffee alone, shook their heads no to their requests. Every waking hour would they nag but to no avail.

"But- But it can be our child! We can put them in one of those baby straighteners!" Adam countered, more or less begging. A cringe was prominent on James' once soft facial features.

"Please never call a buggy/stroller a baby straightener again..." James spoke with disappointed undertones.

"Still! Baby straightener = Child, right?" Asked Adam to which James nodded nonchalantly. "Exactly! They'll think it's a child! A cute little monkey would he much nicer than a...gross...weird looking...fucking baby."

"I guess that also gets rid of the amount of tears shed when they leave for school." James thought. He was all too familiar with parents' eyes pricked with tears upon their child's final departure from the nest. "Still, It's illegal to own a pet monkey, let alone without a licence."

"Aish, to hell with that!" Adam jerked his body up suddenly, hands springing out in front of him, a mere few inches from James' face at most. "You need a licence for a monkey but no licence for a child?! That- That's the same thing!"

"It's really not-" What he fought was a loosing game. Adam was motivated by contrasting ideals. "-I guess you're allowed to keep it if you can squeeze it out of yourself. Or, it's small enough that you can pack it up neatly in a box with a ribbon on the top. Like floof."

"When I become president, I'm changing that rule."

James looked pleasantly amused. Without the fear of being teased could he peacefully admire Adam awaiting (impatiently) a response. "Oh yeah? Is that going to be on the headlines? 'Adam Ortiz for president'?"

"You better bet it will. I'm going to make it legal to adopt a pet monkey. Then keep a dozen of them in a wing of the white house."

"Right. Well, you do that."

"Hey! Aren't you going to support me?!" Adam forced a fabricated scoff, smacking his backhand against James' chest. "Come on! Won't you vote me in for president?"

"I feel like that wouldn't be a good idea." James' head tossed back as hearty laughter emitted from his parted lips. "No offence, but I feel like this country would be in shambles with you running it."

"Wow. What a great friend you are." Adam pursed his lips and laid back down, his head nestled against James' thighs. The gap between James' thighs, spanning a few centimetres, created a subtle dip. It seemed as though Adam quickly forgot about what he was pretending to be angry about and instead found peace in talking about monkeys.

Was James going to tell him he'd found his way onto the latter's lap? No. The world passed Adam by as his mind fixated. Instead James ran his fingers through Adam's dark hair as he spoke, smiling to every word he uttered. Goddammit, he loved this goofy motherfucker.

Awfully short, I know. I've been busy hyperfixating on Game Grumps and like- normal human things.
