Chapter 6- Irene

The ride to Gideon's house was quiet, expect for the magestic song Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls playing in the background. I was shocked when he let me pick the music, considering that this song didn't seem like it was his taste.

" Are you alright princess?"

I didn't answer. Because honselty I wasn't sure.

Gideon let out a soft sigh.

" Look if its about taking your dress..."

I held up my hands, telling him to stop.

" I'd rather not talk about it."

I never been more embarrassed and vulnerable in my life than that moment. I tried to tell him that I had another green shirt in my bag that he could borrow, but he said that would take to long and the next thing I knew.

Rip!

My favoirte green dress was dust and tattered. Oh well, I can always get another one.

" Why are you so quiet princess?"

I looked over at him, his churning blue eyes telling me that he really wanted to know.

I shrugged. " I just don't have anything to say."

It was partly true. I didn't tell him the whole truth. That he made me nervous, and that I was normally quiet around people I don't know.

" Why don't I believe you?"

" What you believe is your choice." There's nothing I can do about it.

He nodded slowly then turned his attention back to the road.

What's the matter with me! If I keep this up I will be an absolute train wreck when I go off on my own next year.

We drove for about another fifteen mintues until we arrived in an area of town I was not familar with.

" Ummm," Gideon nervoulsy hummed, " I should probally warn you that my home might not meet your expectatons."

" Whats that suppose to mean?"

" You will see."

We took a couple of turns for a few blocks until Gideon pulled up next to a one level house with chipped tan paint, a rickety wood porch, and brown tiled roof where part of the tile was missing.

" Welcome to the Hall home," he announced drily while shutting off the ignition, " Come on."

I got out of the car and was careful on the whole walk up the steps. Someone could get hurt if they made a wrong move.
