The two that were chosen to fight stayed away from each other, and trained separately throughout the week.
They weren't sure what was happening in the beginning, so they didn't do much the first few days. But then, once Julian didn't say anything about it being a joke, they realized he was being serious with all of this. Why else would there be electric barbed wire fences towering high? And why else would there be a person st the gates at all times? especially an armed guard.
Sebrina learned ways to strike quickly with her sharp blade, and how to strike and run. She would have to be careful though, Carter had a bow. He could kill from a distance.
Carter had to learn how to hit moving targets, or hit targets while he was moving. It was tricky, but he got the general idea. As long as he hit once, that would slow her down.
The time had come. A week had passed. Everyone did classes as usual as they could with the new info, while the two fighters practiced.
They piled into the stands, row by row, filling every seat. It was a nice fall night, with a chilly breeze. But the bright lights in the arena made it no different than day to the fighters.
Julian was in a room, almost like a backstage, but for the arena. He spoke into a microphone. "Welcome everyone!" He called, there was no response. "Wheres all the excitement? Aren't you excited for this event?" Still no response. "Tough crowd? Anyways, the reason we are all here! Sebrina! Carter! Enter the arena!"
They entered from opposing sides.
"Welcome competitors!" Julian had a large smile on his face, he looked out into th arena, ready to watch it all go down.
"Is everyone ready?" He called out, both to the fighters and the audience. There was a few cheers from the audience, but the victims started pleading.
"Please! Let us go!" Sebrina cried.
"We can't do this! Please just- stop!" Carter didn't want to fight either.
Julian ignored them. "Ready! Set! Fight!"
