Eliott left her there, later at night. Almost early morning. Just so he wouldn't have to worry about sneaking back into his own dorm when people would actually be there. He felt a tinge of guilt, but didn't let it bother him too much.
Lilith slept deeply the rest of the night, and woke up late the next morning. She had a headache. "Oh my god." She groaned, covering her eyes from the light shining from the window.
Eventually she sat up, knowing she would have to at some point today, and now was a better time than ever.
She walked towards the bathroom, splashing cold water on her face. The icy cold pricked at her skin. It definitely woke her up.
She smiled thinking about how good Eliott was at calming her, he knew exactly what she needed. How? She didn't know, but she also didn't care.
The day passed quicker than she wanted it to. She couldn't even spend her possible last day surrounding herself with those she loved. She had to be isolated. She didn't understand that part. Actually, she didn't understand any of it. But that was one of the parts that stood out to her.
The time finally came. She was shaky, but trying to contain it. A shaky arm would ruin everything for her. She would undoubtedly die.
She picked the sword up, throwing it in the air and catching it by the leather wrapped hilt. She looked at her green eyes in the clean blade. She had spent some of her day cleaning it today.
If she was going to die, she wanted it to be clean and pretty. She had always wanted that. To die clean and pretty. Thats why she always kept her things tidy, and neat. She wanted to be known for having good grades, being neat, and just generally being a good person.
She made her way towards the arena. She wasn't ready, but she would play the part. Perhaps that's all she needed, was to fake it 'til you make it? She would try that, that's for sure.
She walked into the enclosed area of the arena, waiting for her call to enter the sandy pit. "I can do this. For Henry, Eliott and Aspen." She whispered, trying to gain more confidence. She closed her eyes, and took deep breaths. "It's going to be okay."
Julian stood in the center of the arena, staring at the students. "Welcome, once again! Are you excited?" Only a slight round of applause came from the crowd. "Wheres all the excitement?" He laughed a little, and looked back and forth at the two combatants. "Katrina, enter the arena!" He called, while looking at her.
Katrina stepped timidly into the sand, walking in front of everyone. She was arguably more scared than Lilith was. She was holding a bow. She had noticed the pattern, and decided to go with it. But by the looks of her, she didn't know how to use a bow.
He called Lilith up.
When she approached the center of it all, in the spotlight, Eliott sat on the very edge of his seat. He was sat in the front row.
Lilith caught sight of Eliott, and winked at him. She was playing up to the fake confidence, she would have to have it to survive this school. In private she would prove otherwise.
Julian gave a small speech, Lilith didn't really pay attention to it. She only returned back to the real world when Julian called "Ready, set, fight!"
Katrina loaded the bow. She definitely did not know how to use it. The arrow landed five feet off from where she was standing.
Lilith slightly scoffed, even she could shoot better than that, and she had never touched a bow in her life.
She lifted the silver blade, aiming straight for Katrinas chest. She just wanted to get it over with. She didn't want a huge bloody battle. But if it risked her life, she would go through with it. She was not dying. She jabbed the sword forward violently, but Katrina dodged, and scraped an arrow against her thigh as she slid to the ground.
Lilith winced slightly, but her adrenaline kept her going.
She turned back to face her opponent. It appeared she wasn't going down without a fight either.
Lilith glared at Katrina. She almost wanted the others blood dripping down her sword. It scared her to think that, but maybe it would help her win. Maybe those thoughts were just her wanting to live through it all. She hoped that was all.
Katrina caught her by surprise when she was deep in her thoughts. An arrow lodged itself in her thigh. Just missing the femoral artery.
Lilith fell to the ground, sand sticking to her skin. But she didn't stay down for long. She got right back up, rage glistening in her eyes.
She gripped the sword, and thrusted it towards her chest, it hit in between her right ribs. She pulled the blade out immediately. Blood dripped into the sand, both from Katrina and from her sword.
Lilith knocked the other down, kicking her in the stomach. She impaled her a few more times, just to make sure she didn't make it. Her torso was a mess of stab wounds, a puddle of blood formed around her.
She threw the blade in the sand right next to Katrina, and walked away. Leaving the blade upright in the ground. She left a trail of bloody footprints as she walked back to the school.
She hid in a dark hallway, she was a murderer.
