Natasha refuses to admit it, but she misses you terribly, it had been about six months since she had walked away from you. She quickly regretted her decision—as you were the best thing she has ever had, but she doesn't make mistakes. She felt like she had been backed up into a corner... So walking away had to have been the correct thing to do... Right?

It's not like you had asked her to quit Avenging, you'd never even consider it, the world needed her just as much as you did. All you asked of her was to simply split her time more evenly. You were getting tired of her spending her minuscule sleeping hours with you, and slipping off in the morning with a quick peck to the lips, and a lie about 'I'll see you later, detka.'

So, one night you shocked her by remaining awake until she returned to your house.

"Moya lyubov', what are you doing up so late?" Natasha questions you, concern lacing her tone.

"We need to talk." You coldly replied, leaving no room for her to brush you off in the name of sleep.

"Are you okay? Did something happen? You're scaring me..." She began to ramble, something she always did when she was nervous, something you made her quite a lot.

"Look, I don't think this is working for me anymore..." You sighed defeatedly

"What do you mean? I thought we were doing well... I-I, Y/N I love you, please can we figure this out." She pleads desperately, confused by your 'sudden' change of heart.

Her face contorted into pure shock as you scoffed in response to her pleas, leading her to quickly rebuild some of her formerly fallen walls.

"Natasha, of course it's going well for you, you're not here enough for it to even be going bad. Do you even know what I've been working on this month? What about what I had for dinner last night? We haven't been on a date in months, haven't been intimate for longer. You sleep in my bed, clinging to me for comfort, then barely kiss me goodbye as you once again leave to save the world." You reply, slightly raising your voice, as your feelings get the best of you.

It was her turn to scoff, what you ate for dinner last night is incomparable to her duty to the world.

"Are you actually serious right now? You know how important my job is Y/N, I told you from the start that there would be times when I couldn't be here. The world needs me."

"Yeah, a six month mission isn't the problem Natasha, it's the fact that you haven't had one in ages but still don't make it home to me." You quickly interrupt her.

"Some nights you stumble in—clearly drunk, and collapse in bed next to me. Have you ever noticed that you have new clothes on the following morning? Or the Tylenol and water waiting for you on the bedside table? I'm not here to diminish your work, or to ask you to quit. I'm just here to ask when I come first to you, huh? When does this relationship take precedence in your life? When do your lies of seeing me later actually become the truth? I'm tired of being your afterthought Natasha, I had to stay up until one in the morning just to fight with you... I knew your job was demanding, but this isn't your job Nat, this is you thinking I'll just always be here, waiting on you. As if I'm a love sick puppy, who's supposed to be grateful for the scraps I'm served. The world might need you Natasha, but so did I."

The more you said, the more defensive she felt herself becoming. Did she not deserve to have some downtime? Saving the world is taxing, so what if she wanted to spend a couple nights a week at the bar. She was so consumed by her all over the place emotions, that she wasn't really hearing you. Instead of understanding your frustrations, she misinterpreted them as an attack upon her very person.
