The view was breathtakingly gorgeous, really, you'd never seen anything like it, which you suspect is all in due respects to the grave stakes that come with the mountain you stand upon.

"A soul for a soul.," echoes in your mind as you stand near the edge staring out at the bright orange melding into the purple hues, the faint shouting behind you ignored as you reason it best that you take the jump. Clint has a family, and Natasha was a major part of that, and you couldn't imagine what would become of those poor kids, or Yelena for that matter if the redhead weren't one of the many to return. Plus, there's no way she's taking the dive when you're perfectly capable of doing so, without her you'd have nothing, but without you, even when heartbroken, she'd still be something.

A few tears fell down your cheeks as you came to terms with the reality of the situation, and after taking in a few calming breaths you turned on your feet to see the fight had ended, but you were not dumb, their moment of peace was only the calm before the volatile storm. Natasha's forehead was against Clint's, their signature move of silence before any mission with high stakes took place, a way of saying 'goodbye, in case I never see you again,' and you knew you had to move fast—so you did.

"Hey Nat.," she pulled her head back from the archer to look to you, her sad smile telling you she planned for this to be her repentance for a forced ledger she already made up for tenfold. You smiled back, letting her know 'it'll be okay,' but her face only saddened at the sight of you. All her dreams of forever end today, on this day that started so happily, meant to be a do over for the failed mission of the past. Her heart breaks at how quickly it all became so grim., "Yes moya lyubov'?," her voice cracked against her will, but she continued to smile at you.

"Do you remember what I said to you after our first date when you took me to that gymnastics center?," she chuckled fondly at the memory of you jumping across a line of trampolines, and as you swung on a rope into the foam pit, you made sure to fluster her as you dropped., "Yeah.," she whispered as she recalled the sweet words, "I'm falling for you.," then her face contorted painfully when she saw the way you were looking back at her. Boldly you repeated the phrase, Clint catching on in real time, and before either of them could react you'd handcuffed their connected hands together, then placed widow bites onto their backs, sending them tumbling into a heap.

"Please, don't do it!," Natasha pleaded over gritted teeth, all while violently thrashing, knocking the widow bite off of her, but as she sat up, pulling Clint with her she looked to you in horror., "You'll be okay Nat, you finally have a family to go home to, you deserve this chance to be happy. See you on the other side honey.," she turned into Clint's body, unable to watch you take the final leap, and her body shook in the archers hold, while yours simply free fell.

As you neared the ground you were smiling, memories of your near decade with Natasha were flying through your mind at warp speed, and as soon as you hit the ground with a sickening crunch Natasha's screams echoed into the tauntingly beautiful night sky.

Natasha's body jolted up off the bed drenched in sweat, her gasp enough to wake you up, and soon you were sat up with her, pulling her into you, and holding her as she cried into your shirt., "Honey, what's wrong?," the pet name you used only spurred her tears on further., "No, was it that same nightmare?," she weakly nodded, and you gripped onto her even tighter.

"Natty, it was just a dream.," you coo'd, but she pulled away to scowl at you, her face red, and stained with the tracks of her incessant tears., "That was meant to be a reality.," she choked out, then shifted to fully lay on top of you.

"Then I reckon we should send Thor another one of those pop tart baskets to New Asgard to thank him for going for the head then, hm?," you teased your lover, mentally slapping yourself on the back when she hoarsely chuckled into your chest., "Yeah, I guess we better.," she says over a yawn, and you slowly began to coax her exhausted mind back to sleep with a hand on her back, then just as you were about to fall too, the monitor on the bedside table sounded off with a mighty set of wails, and the both of you were on your feet.

"I'll warm the bottles.," you tiredly grumbled, and Nat placed a tender kiss to your lips in the doorway of your room before you parted ways. Natasha watched you lovingly as you trotted off down the hallway to feed your hungry babies, albeit reluctantly, she still found your actions to be admirable, and even a bit heartwarming., "I don't think I'll ever stop falling for you, it's a never ending journey.," she whispers her truth into the chill air before she's finally making her way to the nursery to collect the twins.
