Sorry for the crappy name, I couldn't think of anything else
Shoto woke with a pounding headache. His vision was blurry so he couldn't tell where he was. He could hear a small ting like a notification from a phone somewhere beside him. he tried to open his eyes but the light that poured into them was too bright so he closed them quickly. He let out a small groan, he could hear clothes rustling beside. He could hear a voice but it sounded distant. He wasn't sure if the voice was talking to him or someone else, so he didn't try to respond. After a few seconds of silence the voice spoke again, this time sounding closer and less like they were under water. He could tell it was a female's voice. It was high in pitch. It sounded like they were asking a question, maybe to him. He wasn't sure.
Shoto tried to open his eyes again, ignoring the blinding light that came flooding in. He blinked a couple of times, then looked around stiffly. The person who was beside him turned out to be Fuyumi.
She was staring at him with worry pooling in her gray eyes. " Fuyumi?" Shoto whispered, his voice horse from lack of use. " Oh, Shoto you're okay!" Fuyumi sighed with relief, "You scared me! You wouldn't wake up, even when I shook you!"
Fuyumi had put her phone down and was now leaning over him. " Can you sit up?"
Shoto used his arms to push his body off the ground, grunting as he did. A dull pain prodded his stomach, and he winced.
Shoto leaned his back against the wall and sighed, slightly embarrassed that it took him that much trouble to just sit up. Fuyumi was still looking at him, not saying anything just staring. Shoto looked down feeling self conscious. His lip pressed down in a line, as he stared at his hands that were currently laying in his lap.
" You okay?" Fuyumi asked hesitantly, touching Shoto's shoulder lightly. Shoto nodded, eyes still trained on his hands.
Shoto's brain felt fuzzy, as if it was filled with fog. And he felt so, so tired. How long had he slept? He felt like he slept for five minutes.
Shoto wondered if any other kids his age sometimes felt like this. Statistically, probably. He wondered if any of his friends sometimes felt like this. What had caused this feeling anyway? He tried to remember what he did before he fell asleep, but his brain was too fuzzy, and he couldn't focus well. Shoto hoped he didn't act like this when he went to school. His classmates would probably think he was stupid. God, he hoped they wouldn't. He hoped he felt like himself when he went to scho- wait what time was it? Shoot what day was it!
" Fuyumi, what time is it?" Shoto asked, trying to mask his panic under his cool facade.
" Nine fifteen, why?"
Shoto's eyes widened, " I have to get to school." He said attempting to get up, ignoring the piercing pain in his stomach. " Woah, woah slow down Shoto!" Fuyumi said, gently pushing her brother back down on his futon. " But I need to get to school Fuyumi." Shoto said, looking at his sister confused. " Shoto, it's Saturday." Fuyumi reminded, eyes wide with concern. " Oh," Shoto stared absentmindedly at the wall, thinking.
He could feel Fuyumi's eyes still on him. He turned to her, suddenly feeling annoyed. He gave her a pointed look, not saying anything, knowing that his eyes were asking what he wanted to.
Why the hell are you staring at me?
Is what he wanted to ask. Fuyumu sighed, she got the message. " Umm, Shoto, are you okay?" Fuyumi asked, eyebrows furrowing. Shoto blinked at her. " Dad said that, umm you had a seizure."
What!? When the hell did that happen?! The old man probably lied to her.
" Fuyumi, I don't remember that happening." He said simply. " But you've been acting so strangely, Shoto! It's really worrying me!"
" What do you mean 'I'm acting strangely'? Shoto asked, staring his sister down. " I mean," Fuyumi sighed, turning her gaze from him to the floor. " You don't seem to remember anything that happened yesterday, and you thought that today was a school day and not the weekend, you seem to be really distant too, I also called your name a couple of times while you were staring at the wall but you didn't answer." Fuyumi took a deep breath after her rant. Shoto looked at her, dumb founded. " I'm fine Fuyumi." He said, " I didn't have a seizure I promise." Fuyumi didn't seem to buy it but she nodded anyway, giving him a forced smile. " Do want me to make you some food, I can make your favorite." Shoto suddenly realized how hungry he was. His stomach growled quietly and he blushed knowing his sister heard. Fuyumi laughed, " I'll go ahead and make you something." She got up and left the room leaving Shoto with his thoughts.
Shoto sighed and laid back down, his stomach growling as he did. He thought about what Fuyumi said, about how Father said he had a seizure.
It was obviously a lie. But, why would he make up something so stupid?
What was the point? Maybe he did it, because he wanted Fuyumi to think Shoto was weak. Or maybe he was trying to annoy Shoto by having Fuyumi breathing down his neck.
Or maybe, he was telling the truth. A little voice in the back of Shoto's head whispered. Shoto internally shook his head at the idea. But that little voice was persistent. I don't see why he would make up something like that, and those reasons you listed aren't good reasons, he has to be telling the truth. Shoto sighed. Even if it was the truth, why would Shoto have a seizure in the first place? He was one-hundred percent healthy! Well, thats what his doctor said, when he went for a checkup. But his doctor had ignored some of his injuries that endeavor gave him so Shoto wasn't sure if he should believe him.
Shoto wasn't a doctor, but he was pretty sure there were different types of seizures, including one's where you don't have to have epilepsy. Though, he didn't know what they were called, and what would cause the seizures.
This is stupid. Shoto thought, Why can't our family just be normal?!
Shoto sighed once again, and decided he just wanted to stare at the wall. To just not think for a little bit.
As he did this, from the corner of his eye he saw a head looking at him from his window, Shoto turned to it so quickly he got whiplash. But as soon as he did the head disappeared.
Was he seeing things? No, definitely not, he was sure the head was there.
Was someone spying on him?
