Saturday / 1:23 PM

Nick sighed as he read the clock, a sharp flick of light emitted as he flicked on the lighter, dragging it to the end of the joint, the drug that seems to calm everything. It laid between his fingers comfortably, not exactly loose but just relaxed, as if Nick wasn't scared to drop it.

The small orange flame engulfed the paper that held the drug much tighter then Nick did, not daring to let a crumb drop. Nick pulled the lighter away and set it down, watching as the flame died out but a fire still lit deeper within the drug. He didn't waste time in taking the first hit, letting the smoke fill his body as if it were it's own before he let it slip past his lips and into the air.

He always loved gazing into the smoke that danced into the air after he had blown it out, it was a mesmerizing little thing. Nick wish he could be a flexible and elegant like smoke, the way it curved and turned and got peoples attention. It was beautiful, but not as beautiful as the fire that raged beneath it somewhere.

Nick always loved fire, the fascination was strange and dangerous but perfect. Fire was just... sorta his thing.

Nick jumped slightly at the buzz of his phone, his thoughts on the beauty of flames and smoke were long gone. Now his thoughts raced to figure out the buzz, a slight let down when he saw the message from someone so familiar..

' ' one new message: Luke da man ' '

He frowned at the sudden remembrance of their little fight, he wondered if this message would be a fixture. Him and Luke have fought plenty of times before yet it doesn't make him any less guilty after every fight, he's glad to know that the relationship he has with Luke is strong though.

' ' yo wanna hang out? ' '

Nick scoffed, Luke always had a different way of expressing himself, his parents were very bad at their job and it caused Luke to express a lot differently then normal. Luke adored his father and was often told that showing any sign of sadness was a weak thing so therefore, Luke rarely shows his sadness or anger, he just acts like it doesn't or hasn't ever happened.

Nick knows this and Luke does as well, it's a work in progress kinda thing, though Nick can't be talking, his parents weren't the best either.

' ' sure asshole ' '

' ' fuck you ' '

Luke's last message made a tiny chuckle slip out of Nick, he hadn't even realized his joint was almost out. Nick savored the last few hits before pushing the joint into his ashtray, He slowly stood up and yawned, it was Saturday... supposedly a good day to hangout.

Nick slipped a custom hoodie of his over his head, he struggled to find a good pair of pants but settled on black ripped jeans. Nick was always big with his fashion, he wouldn't dare let people see him when he's comfortable at home with his shorts or sweatpants.

He hadn't even realized that he had subconsciously slipped on his beat up vans, he shrugged and grabbed his skateboard, locking the door behind him before getting a running start to the park.

Nick was always spaced out when he skated, he would observe the beautiful trees or he'd close his eyes and let the wind beat him up as he glided through it. He had always wanted to skate at night but never had the time nor care for it, Nick sometimes wishes he had a best friend of sorts to do such things with him...

I guess that's what Luke is, but they didn't share a lot in common.. Luke likes to drive not skate.. Luke likes to vape not smoke, Luke likes to stay inside and chill not go out and have fun, Luke likes everything Nick hates.

Perhaps that's why they fought so much, they were polar opposites who somehow still talk to each other. Nick doesn't even understand how it works but he knows their bond is strong when he looks up and smiles at the sight of that dickhead petting a ladies dog. Nick decided that fucking with Luke sounds fun, he stopped and stuffed the skateboard snuggly against his side as he approached Luke.

The lady noticed him and started to walk away, giving Nick the perfect opportunity to lean down and whisper in the blondes ear, "you finally getting some bitches?" Luke flinched lightly and looked over his shoulder with a pissed look, "yeah, at least I'm trying. Asshole." Luke gritted his teeth as he stood up and finished his sentence. "Anyways what did you want douchebag?" Luke looked over his shoulder again before smiling lightly and starting to walk, Nick took his hint and followed him down a hiking path that was oddly quiet and seemingly abandoned, grass had started to grow throughout the pebbles, assuming people didn't use this path anymore.

Luke spoke quietly, startling Nick slightly. "I wanted to talk about our fight.. I know we have them often and this time isn't any different but... I don't know, I brought it up again. " Luke spoke as if he could shatter his friend if his voice got any louder, he might be right..

"You miss her dude, just admit it." Nick sighed calmly, Luke looked at his friend with an unreadable expression before speaking again. "I... I do.. I don't know why though.. she cheated! She ruined our relationship! She used you!" Luke was expressing the anger that he usually never did so Nick got the hint that this was pretty serious. "Luke.. for fucks sake man, talk to her, show her, something!" Nick exasperated, This was really fucking with Luke and as much as Nick wanted to punch this tall asshole... he still cared for him.

"It's okay to express how you feel to girls, hell, people in general! Listen, message her tonight, ask her to hang out! Just like you did with me." Nick stopped walking, taking his 'best friend' by surprise. He started walking away, luke reaching out quickly, "im sorry Nick!" He froze, the words were definitely shocking and new but it felt very good. Nick looked back with a small smile, " thanks asshole, I'll see you Monday."
