Chapter 11: Who are you?

A few weeks later, the Doctor, Rose, and Mickey were all in the console room. Mickey was holding down a button on the console while listening to the Doctor and Rose banter.

"And that weird munchkin lady with the big eyes? Do you remember? the way she looked at you! And then she opens her mouth and fire comes out!

"I thought I was going to get frazzled!"

"Yeah. One minute she's standing there, and the next minute roar!"

Mickey interrupted. "Yeah. where was that, then? What happened?"

"Oh, it was on this er, this er planet thing. Asteroid. It's a long story, you had to be there."

"Morning guys... or, evening...." Katie trails off as she enters the console room wearing another 1950s dress. This was red with a boofy skirt and white collar. Her brown curls were pinned up and out of her fair. "When are we ex - Er, Mickey, what're you doing that for?" She asked as he eyes locked onto his finger glued to one of the stabilizers.

"Because the Doctor told me to."

Katie turned towards the Doctor, crossing her arms. "When was that?"

"About half an hour ago," Mickey answered.

The Doctor scratched the back of his neck. "Er, you can let go now."

"Well, how long's it been since I could've stopped?"

"Twenty nine minutes," Katie frowned as she marched towards her husband.

"You just forgot me!"

"No, no, no. I was just, I was, I was calibrating. I was just. No, I know exactly what I'm doing. Ow!" Katie smacked the Doctor on his arm.

"You unthoughtful - " Katie's next works weren't translated by the Tardis.

The Doctor cringed and flinched on occasion as Rose and Mickey looked on bemused.

"And! To think this has been going on for -"

Katie was cut off by the time rotor sparking into flames.

"What!?"

Katie and the Doctor both fly towards the controls.

"What's happened?" Rose asked.

"The time vortex is gone. That's impossible. It's just gone. Brace yourself! We're going to crash!"

A scream escaped Katie limps as the Tardis came to a sudden holt sending all four time travelers to the floor. Gas masks drop from the ceiling and as the power cuts off.

Katie snears at the gas masks. "Oh, I must have thought I was so funny when I installed those."

The Doctor is quick to his feet helping Katie up. "Everyone all right? Rose? Mickey?"

"I'm fine. I'm okay. Sorry. Yeah."

Katie touches the controls gingerly, face void of color. The Doctor puts a hand on her arm. Katie speaks, breathlessly fighting back tears. "She's dead. The Tardis is dead."

"You can fix it?"

"There's nothing to fix. She's perished. The last Tardis in the universe. Extinct."

"We can get help, yeah?" Mickey suggested.

Katie scuffed. "Where from? My planet burned."

The Doctor swallowed hard. He went to grip Katie's hand but she yanked it away storming away from him and moving towards the doors.
