Chapter 13 - A New Hope

Two days have passed since the hole was sealed by Eren, and in those two days I spent my time inside the dungeon, only ever visited by few of the guards.

This might also be the time where they clean up the dead bodies that were around the area. More corpses are to be incinerated after the trial.

It was sunny for a sad day, the town that was in ruins was slowly getting by. There was not much going on, except for the fact that I myself am in jail for my actions.

"Cadet Y/n." The soldier that guards my cell called. He was towering over me, the intimidating gaze didn't seem to phase me at all as my feelings had completely numbed out from the abilities I gained for a short period of time.

Talk about consequences..

"You are to be called by the officials. Your cooperation might save you and your friend from getting killed, so it is best if you do not resist in any kind of way." He continued while opening the door to my cell.

I walked out not bothering as he put a handcuff on both of my injured hands. The bandages were removed but my hands weren't that much of use as it couldn't even grab a spoon.

"Commander Shadis told me that you're an exceptional soldier, but most of the time you hold back a lot. Is it something to do with that Jaeger kid?" He asked, his eyes weren't looking anywhere but straight ahead but I can tell that he likes getting into other people's business.

"He's not my friend. Why does everyone think that he's my friend? We barely even interacted during those two years of gruesome training" I scoffed, rolling my eyes at the thought.

I mean I haven't even made a move and then everyone now assumes that we're close just because he said my name like once.

Are they stupid or something?

We stopped in front of the door, the faint sound of murmurs can be heard on the other side. Both guards who were standing outside the giant wooden doors nodded at the soldier who escorted me.

"It was nice meeting you Cadet L/n. I wish you luck on your friend's—- I mean your comrade's trial." He gave a soft smile before walking away.

"Weirdo." I muttered, before walking inside the courtroom. Several soldiers of different branch had seated in an orderly fashion while I sat on the corner, a few seats away from Mikasa and Armin.

Both of them turned their heads before noticing my appearance. Shocked by my condition, they decided to excuse themselves to see me up close.

"Y/n?! Why are you handcuffed??" Armin worriedly asked, his eyes glanced at the scars on my hands, frowning at the sight of it but decided to keep the comment to himself.

"It's good to see you again Y/n although I'm confused about why you're handcuffed." Mikasa interjected she calmly patted my back but I only shrugged shaking my head as I thought of what to say to them.

"I disobeyed orders from my superiors, so I think they'll kick me out of the Cadet corps I don't know about this though, I heard that Eren asked for my whereabouts the first time he's out of his titan form?" I asked but they only stared at me wide eyed.

"How do you know that he's a titan Y/n?.." Armin slowly asked.

I immediately choked on my saliva.

"U-Uh...I uhh...I heard the news from the soldier that escorted me here..he uh told me about it." I lied, shaking my head as I give them a reassuring smile.

"Listen..Eren is an extraordinary person and him being alive just means that he's not done with his mission yet...he's a tough one ya know." I cheerfully claimed. It's true that he's more than he is, but I guess they need some reassurance after everything that happened.

There was a tense pause before Mikasa finally spoke up.

"Let's go Armin, we need to go back before they noticed that we're missing...thank you Y/n really.. I hope that we can talk a lot soon" She softly said, giving me an embrace before going back to their seats. Armin also nodded at me, his once soft featured turned curious as I returned to my seat as well.

The murmurs were once silenced when the Titan shifter entered the room. Everyone had either the look of despise or amusement on their faces, but nevertheless I cannot blame them. This is the first time they had seen a human who had the ability to shift into a giant fleshed gundam battlebot in all Eldian history. Or so they thought anyways.

"Y.../n?" The teal eyed boy called out to me, but I avoided his gaze as they started to chain him in a metal pole.

I felt Mikasa's glance in my direction, her face showed different emotions but most of it was confusion.

To tell them the truth I'm as confused as them too. I barely talked to him but now he acts like we're besties or something.

Can it be that his future vision is acting up? That's why he's already familiar with me?

I am in no way to assume for sure, but if I had to guess the witch's power must've attracted the coordinate.

I mean I already lived here for more than two years now and the manga seems so fuzzy to even remember.

I looked back at the subject of the trial, his fearful eyes found their way to me as I only nodded at him, mouthing the words "stay calm" and smiling ever so slightly.

We weren't friends at all.

But it's like he was unconsciously drawn to me..

I'm not trying to hate him at all it's just, people assume too much and I'd like to live a little bit more without Mikasa assuming the wrong thing.

Man do I still have to root for them? Oh wait yeah I'll make it up to them by playing the matchmaker.

I scoffed at the thought.

My life is already full of crap and this couple decided to put their fate on my shoulders.
