The Lupine's house was a welcomed relief. There was a good chance someone here would catch me breaking curfew and a smaller chance that they would turn me in for it. However, it had walls to protect me from whoever was out there. Not to mention people who could and probably would be able to protect me. Being around the Nereus's means being safe. It will be best, I figure if I stick around them as much as I can.

Cold metal prickles my hand as I turn the doorknob to their house. Crap, of course, it would be locked. I'm locked outside with the murderer. Tapping at my communicator, I go to contact Cleo. To my surprise, the doorknob clicks as the door swings open.

Cash smirks at me from behind the door. "Breaking curfew I see," he remarks. His voice matches his demeanor, so full of snarkiness and amusement. He was infuriatingly dark and sinister.

He could be the murderer, I thought to myself. Tall, well built, and inhumanly fast, but something about that doesn't quite fit. The Emperor's murderer was feminine, blond, and if I'm remembering right, shorter than him.

Blue eyes pierced into me, waiting for me to answer him. "I," my voice cracks, "needed some fresh air." This seemed like as good of a time as any to spend some time looking at my shoes, for any sign of evidence of course.

"Come in, I'm not about to hold the door open all night." I glance up at him, noting the small gleam of annoyance on his face. Quickly I scurry inside, ready to have something between me and whoever was at the park. My arms bump into him in my rush into the house.

My mouth opens to form an apology, but then I decide that I don't owe him an apology. The Lupine's house is decorated to perfection. Taking in the familiar environment, I close my eyes in relief. Cash closes the door behind me.

"Tell me what's going on," he demands. In the corner of my eye, I see him cross his arms. A few confident strides towards me, and there he was towering over me. I look up at him and gulp. To be completely honest, Cash frightens me. He could crush me in a second, and something about his attitude tells me he wouldn't think twice about it if he decided that he wanted to.

His eyebrow lifts slightly, a challenge for me not to respond to him. With a deep breath, I summon all of my confidence. "Did I or did I not tell you that I just figured out I probably wasn't part of my family?" I try to make sure my words come out with a hint of callousness, so he didn't see right through me.

"Probably? You're not," he states plainly. I stand up straighter in annoyance, trying to act tough. "That's not it, little A. Tell me." This time his voice came out smoothly, the rugged cockiness he normally has missing. His eyes narrowed down at me. I could tell that while he was almost being nice, he was still just as serious and demanding as ever. He seems to grow as he stands, towering more and more over me as I feel smaller and smaller.

As quickly as it had come, any hint of seriousness slips away, replaced with a playful attitude. He was toying with me. Ever so slightly his lip tilts upwards, just as he leans down towards me. Stepping closer to me, he places his lips on my ear. His breath caresses my ear, warm and soft. For a moment, he stood there just like that, unmoving. Tensing up, I curl in on myself. A shiver moved through my body on its own accord, as fear crept its way through my body. As I start to step back to put distance between the two of us, he whispers into my ear. "You tell or I do."

Stuck with no option, I hesitantly answer. "Okay, but not here. Not where someone else can hear." My soul sank, as I began to feel defeated. Cash would most likely turn me in, and I did not feel like being any closer to him any longer than I had to. I wanted to crumble to the floor, this was bad. Could I trust him? Should I make up some kind of story? I would have to think fast if I did.
