Double upload because I withheld so much "great content 😑😑" from you guys from so long.Plus I have, like, eight more chapter drafts ahead, so I think I can indulge y'all 😂.
Anyway, this was personal storyboard phase one of my portfolio. This did not get used, it got scraped, thus bringing the monochromatic demon boiz that have been appearing for a while.
Essentially I wanted to draw SFU, since I thought their base would be cool. And they were the most "normal" original characters I had at the time (until I threw that out the goddamn window and decided to bring back OCs that I hadn't drawn in literal years out of a hunch to use as my final storyboard).
This looks bad. And I struggled so much. Ugh. I understand the first draft doesn't always stick, but it always kinda makes me sad.
I used a lot of abandoned subway tunnels as reference, since I had a minor obsession with them, since they looked so cool. It was supposed to be these misfits' hideout!
Elaine's not having a good time.
Also, I made the executive decision that Elaine is going to have a dog at some point 😂. She'll find the little guy, a stray mutt, who will be about a year and take 'em in. I didn't name him yet, and I forgot what species he was specifically. He was some sort of mixed breed. I think it was some sort of Aussie Shepard mixed with something else? A lab maybe? Something very nice and known to be used as emotional support animals.
The idea for the doggo was that he... grew up, and no one wanted him anymore because he wasn't a puppy. And he's not supposed to have any particularly "unique" features, so the owners just didn't want him anymore.
But dammit, he's a good doggo.
I really struggle with names, it always seems like I'm writing that characters don't have names yet.
I find I cannot have a name first until I develop them a bit. Even then, it's hard to find a name that suits.
But, anyway. Since the typical viewer doesn't know the story behind this storyboard really. It's just supposed to look like a bunch of teens chilling in a hideout.
Elaine's dog is supposed to be hunted at being some sort of support animal who helps her with her depression and anxiety attacks. Elaine gets REALLY bad imposter syndrome and really feels like she doesn't belong. Plus she literally feels uncomfortable in her own skin half the time, and petting the doggo boi really helps.
Plus he kinda snaps her out of her own mind, and if something particularly bad is going on, he barks and this gets the attention of Elaine's brothers who can intercept.
Random thing, did you know Cheetah's have emotional support dogs?
I love that.
Moral of the story. I love animals.
