Two broken ribs and open wound with bruising on the face.
He stands in the kitchen looking like a different person. No sparkle in his eyes. No smile upon his lips. Just a straight, expressionless look across his face.
I just want to wrap my arms around him and tell him everything is going to be okay.
But I don't I just stare at him from the other side of the room feeling glum and helpless. His eyes don't meet mine, he just leans on his one crutch with his phone in the other hand. He just scrolls endlessly.
I know he is gutted. About football. He won't be back, the physiotherapist told him that they don't think that he will be fit enough to get properly back before the end of the season. They said he isn't going to be let back to training for at least six weeks, even when he does go back it wont be full time.
He hasn't spoken much, to anyone really. He hasn't gone outside for the week her has been out of hospital even though I offered to take him on a small walk around the gardens. He said no and that has been it.
"I am off to work, I will drop off, Sam. You can come in to the academy with me you know?" I offer Kylian looks at me for a second before shaking his head and then going back to scrolling through his phone.
I nod to myself and walk out of the kitchen to get my brother. A slight sense of hurt from how blunt Kylian is being with me lingers in my heart but I shake it off knowing that the boy is just distraught and nervous about what my ex-boyfriend did to him last week.
Sam follows me to the car and gets in the passenger seat next to me. He looks at me and then sighs. "You are upset about him aren't you." He questions.
I shrug my shoulders.
Nothing else is said, Sam obviously feeling awkward to comment on what happened.
Training seems quiet. Without Kylian it isn't the same, and him not being here just reminds me of that night. "Hi." Someone makes me jump as they stand next to me and I see that it is the new girl, Maya.
She is very pretty. Tanned skin, black hair that is super shiny, beautiful brown eyes and gold-rimmed glasses that suit her perfectly. I think she is a bit older than me like twenty four, she is an inch or two taller than me also.
I have only met her a couple of times briefly and I am a little shocked that she has come over here to talk to me. "Errrr, hi."
Things go into an awkward silence and I bite my lip. "So how long have you been working here?"
"Three months. So not long." I smile kindly at her as she makes the effort to get rid of the uneasy tension.
"Oh," She pauses for a second. "I heard what happened by the way, I just wanted to say that I am sorry, no one deserves to go through that...my sister went through the same thing, it wasn't nice."
I slowly nod my head and stare off into the distance. I know she is just being nice but now really isn't the time for pity. "Cheers. But it is in the past now, what happened, happened. I have bigger things to worry about now."
Maya nods. "I am sorry, I have made things a bit more awkward now." She bites her lip rubbing her arm in embarrassment.
Guilt kicks in as I look at her. "No don't worry about it, I don't blame you for being a little curious, at least you were supportive about it and not horrible." I smile kindly at her.
"I suppose, do you fancy going for a coffee or something at some point, ya know to get to know each other more?"
"I would love that." My mouth widens further and she grins back.
"Okay, well I will message you on Instagram at some point and we can arrange a time."
"No worries."
She skips off and my mood lifts at the thought of making a new friend.
It isn't too long until training comes to an end and Jacques catches me as I am about to leave the office for the day. "How is Kylian?" He asks as we walk down the corridor together heading towards the car park.
I shrug my shoulders feeling a slight wave of sadness over me. "Feeling sorry for himself." I look down at my feet and I can sense the sad expression on my co-worker's face.
"You know it isn't your fault, right?" Jacques' hand goes to my left shoulder as we reach outside.
"Yeah, yeah."
My words are the opposite to how I feel and I know this man is seeing right through my act. But he doesn't seem to want to ask any further. "Look, I will see you tomorrow, bright and early for the game?"
"Yeah." I nod at him one last time before going to my car.

It is late at night. I cannot sleep.
I rub my eyes and yawn. Nothing can get my mind off of what happened.
I pull the duvet from my body and my bare feet hit the soft carpet. I tip toe out of my room and down the hallway. My toilet in the en suite is still not working so I have to use the main one.
As I am walking back from doing my business, a whisper causes me to stop in my tracks. "Liv." It says and I turn my head slowly to the right to the room where it is coming from.
It is Kylian's room.
A frown clouds my face and I begin to think whether or not I did hear someone whisper my name but it comes again this time a little bit louder. I shiver slightly in the cold, I am only wearing shorts and a long top.
My hands reach out before I can think to walk back to my room. I push open the door and it is pitch black inside. "Yeah?" I whisper into the room and I hear a little bit of shuffling.
"Come here."
"I can't see where you are." I giggle slightly as I shut the door.
"Find your way." I can hear the amusement in the boy's voice and I shake my head biting my lip. I begin walking in the darkness until I hit the bed and flump down onto the duvet.
Arms immediately snake round my waist and my heart leaves me as my shirt rides up and his fingers press against my exposed skin on my stomach and lower back.
His head lays on my chest and I gently pull the big duvet over the two of us. Heat exploding. "I am sorry for being a dickhead to you for the past week or so, Olivia." Kylian's thumb rubs my back soothingly and I hug him carefully back ensuring I don't hurt him.
"As long as we do this a lot more, I don't care."
