Third Person
"I don't think— I know! She's the girlfriend. He's in love with her, I saw it. The way he looked at her, I just know."
Gabriella said in a hushed tone to her mother.

"She's black and fat?"
Was all her mother seemed to ask in a tone of disgust.

"Yes, but she was actually— beautiful."
They both seemed to be stuck on her appearance.

"I'm telling your father."
Gabriella tensed. She knew what her father was capable of.

"No, I'll handle it mom—"
Her mom cut her off.

"No, I'm telling your father. No black will break up your marriage. She will be handled."
Gabriella heard the dial tone indicating her mother had hung up.

She couldn't help but feel helpless. It was obvious her husband loved Iyesha. She knew their marriage was not based in love— but she held onto hope that maybe they could build a relationship. Maybe that year long contract could be a life time, she liked him.

Gabriella knew that his heart would never be hers. She knew what her father would do would break Santo's heart— it would make him cold— colder than he already was.

It would cause chaos. Blood would be shed. A mess.
•••••••

"Iyesha. Open the door."
Santo held the bridge of his nose. She was so stubborn, it made no sense.

"Go away. You already made me move and close my shop. What else do you want?"
She had been crying, he could hear it in her strained voice.

"Aiden come open this door."
Saint ordered from the other side of the door. Aiden did as he was told. He gained a serious mean mug from Iyesha.

She held Romeo in her arms, her eyes puffy and red. The bags under her eyes indicated she had not been getting enough sleep.
She wore a sky blue PJ set with her favorite bedroom shoes. Her bonnet concealed her closure sew in. Even in her night clothes she looked beautiful. Just being about to see her made him smile internally.

As he took a step closer. Iyesha found herself talking a step back.
"Don't do that sweet girl."
He sighed and continued to come closer and closer, closing the space between them.

"Do what?"
She placed Romeo on the floor as he cologne filled her nose.

"You know exactly what I'm talking about."
Santo and Iyesha were now face to face.

Iyesha rolled her eyes. Him even being here right now put her in more danger than she could have ever expected to be in. She wanted for this to end. She didn't want to fear that her life was on the line for love. But she wanted to be loved, she had never felt cared for. Santo made her feel all of those things.

"You shouldn't be here Santo."
She crossed her arms against her breast.

"But I want to be."
Even with the surrounding circumstances he still found a way to flirt. Though his flirting is what got him in this situation to begin with.

"You should be home with your wife. She already knows about us. She's probably tracking you right now. I'll be dead by tomorrow."
Iyesha struggled to find humor in the situation as she let out a dry laugh. Santo didn't see what was exactly funny.

"Stop it. You should be in bed. You look like you haven't had any sleep baby."
His eyes took in her sleepless appearance once more. She looked like hell.

"Can't really sleep when I'm looking over my shoulder."
She shrugged.

"Nothing is going to happen to you. Stop talking crazy. Just stop it. If anything happens to you I will make the Devil look like an angel."
He grabbed her hand and began to lead her into the bedroom.

Iyesha didn't put up much of a fight as he practically dragged her towards her bedroom.
"Come on. Let's get you in bed. "
He lifted like she was as light as a feather. She hated to say that his arms felt good around her body.

Laying her in the oversized bed, he tucked her in tightly. He sat next to her, watching her eyes get heavy with sleep.
"Why haven't you been taking care of yourself?"
He rubbed circles on her hand gently.

Iyesha did not answer, she only held her eyes closed as he soothed her. He sighed deeply.
"You want me to stay? Hmm?"
Santo asked softly.

If anyone had been him being soft and gentle with Iyesha, they would have though Saint had a twin brother.
"Yes."
Iyesha whispered, still with her eyes closed.

Santo removed his shoes before sliding into the bed with her.
"Just hold me, make me feel safe again. Please."
Santo said nothing. His arms cradled her into his frame. Her head resting against his chest as she listened to the beat of his heart.

He rested her legs over his own resting his hands on her back side and the small of her back. Iyesha could feel herself falling asleep in his arms as he rubbed circles against her skin.

Soon he could hear her soft slumber as she finally fell asleep. He knew that if he could hold her like this for eternity, he would. As long as he knew no harm came to her, that she was safe in his arms— he wouldn't mind. Santo could feel sleep getting the best of him, but soon his phone interrupted his peace.

With a huff of frustration, he answered reluctantly.
"Hello?"
His voice never failed to send chills down her spine.

"Where are you? My father would like a word with you."
Gabriella squeaked out, clearing her throat afterwards.

"I am handling business. "
He looked down at a sleeping Iyesha.

"Well when will you be done?"
Walter listened closely on the other side of the line.

"Soon."
Santo hung up before Gabriella could get another word out.

"He is lying!"
Walter was infuriated.

"He is a rather good liar then."
Gabriella sighed.

"I will handle this, quickly. When is she set to bring the flowers?"
Her father was already calculating plans in his head.

"The day before the ceremony."

"Perfect."

Gabriella could feel guilty pulling and tugging at her heart. If she wanted Santo all to herself, this would not be the way. To make Santo Genovese mad— it was asking for a death wish. To "handle" someone he seemed to infatuated with, in love with even was literally asked for a war.

Santo tried his best to get out of the bed without walking Iyesha. Each time he moved, she stirred in her sleep.
"I have to go baby."
He mumbled softly into her ear.

A frown appeared on her face. Her eyes fluttered open. He would help but stare into them. Each time she looked him deep into her eyes, she seemed to pull him in.
"No."
She pouted.

"I have to. I promise I'll be back later this week. I need to handle something."
He stroked her hair, hoping she would not get mad and shut him out again.

Iyesha just stared up at him, looking those cold, blue, eyes. And she could honestly say that for the first time she saw emotions swimming in them.

"Okay."
Santo swung his feet over the side the side of the bed, pulling his shoes on swiftly.

Iyesha looked at his back muscles flex with each movement. When he was done, he gathered his coat and leaned down to place a kiss on her lips. They felt so good, so bad, so wrong.

"I love you."
Santo had to quickly pull away before he got to carried away.

"I love you too."
Santo stared at her, it was the first time she had actually said it back.

A smirk kept onto his lips.
"I know."
He let out a small laugh making Iyesha roll her eyes.

"Get out."
Iyesha turned over, attempting to fall back to sleep. Romeo joined her, replacing the emptiness once filled.
