Ginny
First couple of classes went by quick. Then there was Hedge's class. All seven of the demigods plus Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dean, Lavender, Neville, Luna, Malfoy and I had his class.
Dean and I were talking when Hedge came in, slamming the door behind him. "Alright, cupcakes! I'm your new Physical Defense teacher!" he announced. "I'm here to teach you how to defend your puny little selves on this sick battlefield."
Malfoy and his gang snorted. "What are you going to do, teach us how to play dodgeball?"
Hedge gave him a look. "Remind me to beat him up later," he said to Leo. Leo winked. "For our first example. I tought her everything she knows. Annabeth, please demonstrate for the punks."
Annabeth nodded. "Gladly, Coach." He pulled out a dummy, and Annabeth smirked. "You're too easy." She started kicking it and punching it, leaving dents in the foam that just kept returning to normal.
Draco pulled out his wand and secretively muttered, "Levicorpus." the dummy rose in the air.
Annabeth only laughed. "Yay!" She kicked it even while it dangled in the air, and then grabbed her dagger to tear through it.
I knew Hedge didn't teach her that, but she was only trying to help. The rest of the class went by smoothly. Hedge had us work in pairs, practicing on dummies.
It was mainly simple stuff, like punching and kicking. Dean and I worked together, Harry and Ron, Hermione and Lavender, Neville and Luna, Annabeth and Percy, Piper and Jason, Hazel and Frank, and Leo and this pretty Ravenclaw girl.
When class was over, Harry reminded me we had Quidditch tryouts. Harry was team captain and Seeker. I was Team Captain when Umbridge banned him last year, so I was already on the team as Chaser with him.
Lavender Brown was in the stands waiting to cheer on Ron. So were Hermione and the demigods. The crowd of talkative Quidditch players weren't listening to a word Harry was trying to say.
"SHUT IT!" I yelled. They silenced, giving me a look. Harry thanked me, and I nodded in return. We both prepared for the tryouts.
Harry sat on his broomstick watching, twirling the golden snitch in his hand. Ron was at the goal posts (he was trying out for Keeper). I was already one Chaser, so we needed two more, plus two Beaters to take Fred and George's places.
Romilda Vane and a group of her friends were giggling and whispering while staring at Harry the whole tryout. I tried not to focus on them; besides, I had Dean.
Harry told them to leave kindly. The tryouts went pretty well, if I do say so myself. The team had Harry as Seeker; Demelza Robbins, Katie Bell and I as Chasers; Ron actually made Keeper; and Jimmy Peakes and Ritchie Coote as Beaters.
The demigods were fascinated at our game. Percy grumbled, "All we have at Camp is Capture the Flag and Chariot Races. I mean, they're awesome and all, but I like Quart-itch."
"It's Quid-ditch, stupid. And don't forget Pinochle," Annabeth added. "Chiron plays that with us sometimes."
Frank laughed. "That's your idea of fun?"
We trudged back to the common room to change and prepare for dinner. Then after us wizards got cleaned up, Ron got over his state of shock at becoming Keeper, and the demigods contacted Chiron for another update, we all joined each other down to the Great Hall.
Harry was surprisingly quiet. Hermione was trying to get him into conversation, but he wouldn't reply a full sentance. I met up with Dean and walked with him, while Lavender stole Ron.
