Lance and Lotor brought Silvio in the cabin once the inside was clear, the boy looked I'll still as lance kept the blanket wrapped right around his nephew. He sat him on the couch as he brushed the boys hair out of his eyes and checked his forehead feeling his fever.
"Silv where is your sister?" Lance asked softly as everyone sat on the other chairs and on the carpet.
"The group got attacked and since I was sick they left me behind with the others that got bit, they took Nadia," Silvio had a few tears still running down his face.
"When was this?" Lance kept his arms wrapped around the little boy.
"Middle of the night," he whispered. Lance pursed his lips and hugged him tightly.
"We're going to find her," lance rubbed his shoulder gently.
"Youre not bit or scratched right?" He checked his nephews arms worried.
"No, I ran when the biters were focused on the group and hid in the shed," Silvio told him resting against his uncle.
"Tio I'm really hot, I feel really light headed," he whimpered closing his eyes.
"Here's some water," Shiro offered to the boy his bottle.
He drank it slowly and held the metal bottle against his neck where it felt cool on his skin.
"Tio, I don't think I'm getting better," Silvio whispered with a shaky voice.
"Don't say that," lance hushed a little.
"I don't want to turn out like dad," he sniffled as he started to cry again.
"Your not, I promise you'll get better, it just takes time cause we don't have any of the good stuff like before," lance shook his head but the boy broke out coughing harshly as his shoulders shook.
"You both are welcome to stay with us for a bit, Lance You still shouldn't be traveling alone with your wounds and with him being so sick," Shiro stood from the chair.
"Really?" Silvio smiled at the kindness.
Lance hesitated knowing Kuron was still there. He was dangerous and he didn't want Silvio to be around someone that takes anything as a threat.
"It's the least we can do," Shiro looked at lance gently seeing the hesitation.
"If Kuron touches him, raises a gun at him, or so much as threatens Silvio, I'll kill him on the spot, I won't have him hurt my nephew," lance warned him in a low tone.
"I won't let that happen," Shiro nodded.
"Fine, not like we have anything anyways," lance sighed nodding softly.
"Wonderful, we should head back then," Allura clapped her hands together and lance picked up the ill child and let him rest.
"Lance You shouldn't be carrying him, your wounds might open up," Lotor said concerned.
"It's okay, he's light," lance told him gently as Silvio looked exhausted in his uncles arms. He had dark circles under his eyes and looked fragile.
Lance went to sit in the back of his truck as hunk and Allura sat in the front to let the two rest. Silvio curled up against his uncle as lance kept the blanket up to the boys ears keeping him warm.
"He going to be okay?" Allura asked turning from the front seat as lance kept him close.
"He will be, I just need to find Nadia now," lance sighed as Silvio was soon fast asleep, he probably was up all night to afraid to sleep when he was defenseless.
"Is he going to turn?" She asked quieter.
"No," lance looked down. "My brother was sick for two weeks before he died and turned at the beginning, he's been sick for over three weeks now,"
"It's still a risk," she told him worried.
"I know but he's just a kid, kids have weaker immune systems, so if he was going to die he would've by now," lance nodded understanding the concern they all had for someone that was sick.
"We have medicine, and an actual place where he can sleep under a roof and safely," hunk said with a smile as he followed Shiro back to their base.
"Thank you," lance said gently. Allura offered him a smile and he blushed a little embarassed but smiled back.
"It wasn't fair for the situation, getting left behind and being separated from your family, not in this world that's not fair, we don't have much anymore so if you have family you have to do what you can for them," hunk nodded softly and lance looked over curiously.
"Did you have siblings?" Lance asked. Hunk shrugged.
"My niece and nephew, my brother and his wife lived on the same street so I kinda grew up with my niece and nephew too, I'm only six or seven years older than the twins," hunk explained calmly looking at the road.
"So I get it man, if I knew where those kids were I'd do anything to get to them," he smiled softly but sadness was in his voice.
"I'm sorry," lance looked out the window as he rubbed his nephews arm.
"I am too," he nodded.
"Do you have any siblings or nieces and nephews?" Hunk looked over at Allura curiously.
"No, I'm an only child and didn't really grow up with younger children," Allura shrugged.
"Guess it's a different story when you grew up surrounded and with a large family," she smiled at the boys.
"Lotors not your brother?" Lance tilted his head to the side.
"No, ha we went to school together as children," she giggled shaking her head.
"The accents give it away," lance grinned a little.
"That obvious? Maybe I should force my American accent more," Allura teased.
"Maybe we should just have British accents," hunk chuckled.
