Kenny stayed at the bridge until nightfall, Craig going home because he didn't want to worry his mom.
Suddenly, Kenny's phone started ringing, caramelldansen echoing around the area.
"Dansa med oss, klappa era händer! Gör som vi gör, ta några steg åt vänster!" Kenny let it ring a little longer, nodding his head slightly to the song.
"Lyssna och lär, missa inte chansen, nu är vi här med caramelldansen! Oo-oo-oa-oa! Oo-oo-oa-" Kenny picked up his phone, seeing it was Leo he finally answered with a sigh.
"Hello?" He said tiredly, getting down from the ledge and sitting against the railings. He heard panicked breathing on the other end and immediately sat back up. "Leo?" He said. "Kenny- help." Leo said with a hushed voice. Kenny's heart skipped a beat "What? What's going on?" He asked. "I-It's my parents. I messed up one too many times and I pissed them off, a-and my dad said I wasn't gonna be grounded, I was gonna be somethin' much worse!" Kenny's heart sank, he suddenly regretted letting the phone ring so long.
"They're tryna break down my door, and I'm hidin' in the closet! I don't what to do..." Leo explained, voice breaking into a quiet sob. Kenny's worry turned to anger "Leo, don't worry, I'm gonna get you out of this. Everything's gonna be okay, I promise. I'll see you soon." He said. "I trust you." Leo replied before hanging up. Kenny grabbed his backpack and slipped it on before running across the bridge and up the hill. He would've left it, but it had things he might've needed.
He ran back into town, going so fast he almost tripped over his own feet. He reached Leo's house, slowing down and staring at Leo's illuminated bedroom window. He knew he was on a mission. Leo needed his help, and he was going to provide it. He walked towards the house and turned the corner, going around the side. He knew Mr and Mrs Stotch didn't like him and they had a shotgun at the ready, so he had to be careful. He knew that they'd never kill him, but Linda wouldn't hesitate to put a bullet in his arm. Call it a family grudge. He walked until he saw the small overhang. He would've jumped onto the garage roof but it was too angled. He would've fallen. Kenny took a run up and jumped onto the wall, grabbing onto the gutter, his feet landing onto the windowsill. He pulled himself up onto the snow covered roof and took a breath, resting on his knees. He slowly climbed up, being cautious not to slip and fall. He reached the second wall, grabbing onto Leo's windowsill and pulling himself up. He slowly stood up straight and knocked on the window.
Leo's head whipped up. He stood up, quietly opening the closet and stepping out. "I know you're in there Butters!!" His dad yelled. Leo jumped and rushed to the window. He fumbled with the lock, sliding it open and opening the window. "Hey." Kenny said. Leo smiled "Boy am I glad to see-"
BANG!!
The boy's heads turned to see Mr Stotch in the door frame. The door was on the floor, being ripped off of its hinges. Leo's breath hitched, freezing up. "Finally... that damn door. You are going to get the punishment of a lifetime young man!!" His father yelled, wielding a belt in his hands. Kenny gritted his teeth. "And you." He said, turning his attention to Kenny. "You will regret coming onto my property."
"We need to go." Kenny said, grabbing Leo's hand. Leo nodded and climbed into the windowsill. "Where the fuck do you think you're going?!" Mr Stotch yelled, running towards them. "Fuck-" Kenny cursed under his breath. "Bombs away!" He yelled, picking Leo up bridal style and sliding quickly down the roof. When they landed, Leo jumped out of Kenny's arms, while Kenny tripped a little and fell, getting up a moment later and taking Leo's hand before running as fast as they could. He didn't really know where they were running to, but they kept going.
They only made it about 20 steps before Kenny heard a gunshot and felt a sharp pain in his arm. "GAH!!" He let go of Leo's hand and fell to the ground, panting. "Fuck.." he mumbled. "Kenny!!" Leo yelled, dropping to the ground with him. "Kenny! Oh god..." he muttered. "Keep going! What are you doing?" He said. Leo took hold of him and hoisted him up. "Can you stand?" Leo asked. Kenny took a breath "Y-Yeah I'm fine. Don't worry about me, just keep go-"
"Not another step, Leo." Mr Stotch said, shotgun in hand. "Why'd you do that Dad?! You're insane!" Leo yelled, hand grasping Kenny's. Kenny glanced down at his arm and saw the blood. He let out a shaky exhale and let go of Leo's hand, grabbing hold of his arm as to not let the blood flow.
"I have had enough of that boy. I've had enough of the McCormicks. They are nothing. And they always will be. And I will not allow any son of mine to be indulging in so much as a friendship with one of them, let alone whatever.. this is! I am sick and tired of you breaking the rules Leo. Let me punish you, and then we can act like none of this ever happened. Okay?" Mr Stotch said. Leo's eyes filled with tears "No!! No, that's not okay! I'm my own person! I can do whatever I want! I'm 17! I don't care about the grudge that you have!! I'm allowed to live my life as I please!" Leo said angrily, tears spilling out and landing on the sidewalk. "Just stop. Kenny hasn't done anything to you. And you shoot him for it? It's not fair!! I should be allowed to live my life, and he should be allowed to exist around you without you tryna' blow his head in!!" Leo said, sniffing. "I... I hate you!!" Mr Stotch flinched. "I hate you dad!! And I always will..." he muttered. "No. You don't mean that Butters, you just-" "No!! I'm sick of you tryna' tell me how I feel! Only I know how I feel! You can't tell me that!!" Leo interrupted. "All the groundin'... all the yellin'... it's not right. You're a bad dad." Leo said.
"And nothing you do is gonna change that."
