The ride to the hotel was a blur with thoughts rummaging through my head. "How will I get him alone tomorrow?" "What if someone finds out I don't belong here?" "How much is this damn taxi gonna cost?" I sighed and leaned my head on the window. This all seemed like some weird twisted movie. My phone rang suddenly. It was my mom. "Damn it!" I said aloud, after answering it without thinking. The taxi driver looked at me thru the rear view mirror for a second before looking back in the road. I raised the phone to my ear. "Hello?" "Hey. Your dad and I are going to have dinner with some church friends at a restaurant a little far from the house. We'll be home late. Eat something." She always tells me to eat as if I'm not the most hungry person in her household. I was taken aback by the sudden coincidence, but didn't question it. "Ok. See you later." "Goodbye. Love you." "Love you too. Bye." After I hung up we arrived at the hotel. The ride seemed like it took 10 minutes. "$10 is your charge." Wow. I could've sworn I was gonna be broke after this ride. I pulled a $20 bill out my pocket. I didn't feel like looking for any more money. "Here. Keep the change." The driver smiled and said thank you while I got my suitcase out the back seat and checked to see if I had everything. "You're welcome. Bye." I waved as he drove off before walking into the hotel, rolling my bag. I approached the desk and asked the woman sitting there on the computer in front of me if I could get a room. "What type of room do you want?" I thought for a quick second then asked "Do you have a penthouse?" "Yes. It's also vacant." "How much?" "Since you're off season, it costs $200 a night in the penthouse suite." "I'll take it." I know what some of you are thinking. "How does a 16 year old with no job afford all these things?" I happened to find an envelope with $10,000 in my parents' room hidden in a secret spot before I left. They always act like they don't have money, but I know they do. There's way more where this came from. Proceeding with the story..... I took $200 out of my wallet and waited for the woman to give me my key. "Here you are." She said, handing me the card key thing. "Room service in the penthouse is free everyday from 7:00 AM to midnight. Also, the penthouse is located on the top floor. You'll see 2 double doors on the left when you walk straight down the hall to the left after getting off the elevator. "Thank you very much. I'll see you later on." I said, walking over to the elevators. I pressed the up button and waited for one to open. After 8 seconds I got on an elevator and pressed "Top". As the doors closed I exhaled in relief. I made it to my destination miles away from home, soon to be feet then inches away from my bae.I was lost in my thoughts as the elevator started to go up.
