TIME SKIP - One month later...
With the village on track to being fully rebuilt, and no other responsibilities in sight, it seemed like a perfect day for target practice. The sun shone bright and cheery as the breeze blew softly . Newly painted targets were set up in the clearing of the Roost, and the Rescue Riders lined up accordingly.
"I'm thinking of dropping by the Slinkwings today." Leyla announced.
"Can I come? I'm tired of hearing Magnus stomp around complaining that the Mechano Dragon had stopped working for the thousandth time this past month." Cutter rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, I just wish a tree would fall on his house so he has something real to complain about." Aggro agreed.
"Uh guys, pay attention. Target practice, remember?" Dak interrupted the conversation.
"Maybe this time Parrot could join in, he's been with us long enough." Winger shrugged as he was walking to the target practice line.
"I think he's down at the docks with Elbone, he's really started to socialize with the town." Summer smiled.
"Welp looks like its just us today." Dak finished pushing a target into place, "Alright everyone, ready?"
The dragons all got to their lines.
"Fire! Multiple shots!"
Water, fire, and power blasts desomated the targets. Everyone looked over their shots but suddenly realized one row of targets was still standing. They all looked at Burple.
"I think there's a rock stuck in my stomach." Burple choked his words.
"You okay?" Leyla came over to him.
"Just wait a-" Suddenly the rocks dislodged and a series of hurtling miniature boulders spat from his mouth breaking the new targets with a sudden force.
"Whew! That was pretty good!" Dak exclaimed.
"It was only because there was something in the way of the rocks at first, I should probably spit it out so this doesn't happen again." The rockspitter coughed up what looked like to be not a rock at all.
Out from his mouth rolled a stone made of an amber substance.
"No wonder it got stuck, that doesn't look like what I usually eat! I don't even remember where I got that from." He looked down at it.
"It actually looks kind of cool," Dak commented, "You know, if it wasn't covered in dragon spit." He rolled over the stone with the edge of a stick. Embedded in a dip in the surface of the amber was a deep blue diamond.
"Wait, now I remember." Burple's eyes lit up.
"Where did you find this Burple?" Leyla asked, walking over.
"Uhhhh, that part I don't remember."
"Still cool looking, let's leave it to dry in the sun." Dak pushed it over with a stick to a sunny corner of the clearing.
Just as they were getting ready to get back to practice, a familiar friend riding atop a Nadder landed in the clearing.
"Hey Rescue Riders!" To everyone's surprise it was Elbone riding Parrot (actually more like clinging on for dear life until they landed) "I have something you guys might want to see."
"Is it a new business idea?" Dak asked, tossing away the stick.
"I wish- I've been too busy fixing up my house boat. There's some water dragons on the beach asking for you." He then patted Parrot's side, "This nice dragon helped me get up to you guys fast. A little too fast..."
