Kind of a big chapter :0
Little did Summer and the twin humans know, the others were also in the caves.
"Why are we down here again?" Burple whimpered scaredly. The Amber Stone rolled around in his stomachs, and he regretted swallowing it back up.
Aggro looked back at him, "Don't you remember? We overheard one of the rebellion dragons saying that he was chasing a Fastfin around here, and the only place in the area for Summer to hide is in this cave."
"Oh right..." Burple picked up his pace, "But wait, how do we know it was Summer?"
"We don't." Winger sighed, shaking his head.
They all rounded a corner, the shadows growing darker.
"Is there any sign of them?" Winger glanced around.
Parrot lowered his nose to the ground, sniffing passively. He hopped along a couple feet, before his eyes lit up and he raised his head.
"What is it?" Winger noticed the Nadder's facial expression.
"Danger, there's the scent of danger. And... quite a lot of unusual smelling- oh wait that's just Dak and Leyla." Parrot squawked.
Everyone gasped.
"Wha-what? I'm sorry I haven't adjusted to human smell fully." The Nadder stepped back.
"It's not that! Dak and Leyla were here! That means Summer too. They are down here!" Winger exclaimed.
"And in trouble!" Cutter added.
The Swiftwing and Razorwing-Skrill broke into a run through the tunnel. Everyone followed suit, with Burple lumbering behind, struggling to keep up.
The deeper they got the more dark it became, and the greater feeling that they were definitely not in these tunnels alone.
"Hey Cutter, any extra info we should know about?" Winger leaned over and whispered to him.
"These tunnels connect caves all over the island. Usually they're pretty damp and not much to eat or drink, so dragons don't come this far down..." The hybrid paused, "Although it looks pretty crowded now."
Just as he spoke, Winger picked up the sound of scuffling claws. Dragon voices and the movement of wings came up ahead and as he rounded a corner he gasped and dropped down.
Dragons of many different species patrolled a large fork in the path as the tunnels widend and broadend. Sad looking dragons were being escorted too and from the different paths.
"I see... prisoners" Aggro observed in a low voice..
Winger turned back to look at them, "I think we can still disguise. Parrot, you take the lead, we need to really be convincing down here."
Parrot hesitantly hopped forward, "Uhm... should I follow Dak and Leyla's trail?"
Winger nodded and the group carefully peeled out of the shadows and tried to blend into the traffic of dragons.
Just then a passing Relentless Razorwing gave Cutter an odd look. Then Winger realized how different Cutter and a normal Razorwing appeared. The pureblood Razorwing has a set of quills along their face and neck, and has sharp tips to their wings, along with a more bright color scheme.
Cutter kept his head down, tightening his wings to his body, most likely hoping that his lack of quills wouldn't be thought about too much.
Yet the Razorwing passed by without making a move, and internally Winger breathed a sigh of relief.
