Im getting back to posting yay
The fresh air and light of late day came with splendid relief as Cutter rushed out of the damp cave, rescued dragons trailing after him.
They were now in the open, and the entire island knew of their presence.
As Cutter looked up at the circling dragons above, he knew it would only get harder. Just as he thought this, however, Aggro ran up to the side of him, shaking off heat from her wings and his mother on his other side.
Maybe he shouldn't be too worried.
The cries of outraged rebellioners sounded far above and Cutter tensed again. More dragons were pouring out of the caves onto a grassy stretch behind him, along with Winger, with Dak and Leyla sitting on his back.
"Should we lead the dragons we rescued away from the island? Do we know we got everyone out?" Dak called down at Cutter, Aggro, and Oriole.
"We still need to find Summer, Burple, and Parrot." Leyla reminded him quickly.
"That'll be real easy." Cutter couldn't help but remark as he looked up at the circling dragons, which curiously haven't attacked yet. He looked around and realized that ground-wise the only dragons were those with the Rescue Riders.
All the rebellion dragons, both native to the island and the big ones who weren't, were in the sky. But why?
He didn't want to wait to find out, he could already feel the anxiety of the rescue dragons growing around him.
"Let's just hurry up while they're all up there flying in circles." Aggro started to hover upwards.
"I'll lead some dragons back into the caves to continue searching for imprisoned dragons." Dak said and Winger let himself drop back to the ground.
"We should go search for the others and get the dragons who can't help fight as far away from here as possible." Leyla slid away and ran over to Cutter and Aggro.
"I... want to stay near the caves." Oriole admitted slowly, and gave Cutter a longing look before taking a tired step back towards the darkness.
Cutter's tail drooped slightly, "Oh, ok."
"You don't mind if I ride with you?" Leyla asked him.
Cutter nodded and let her get on his back before taking off with Aggro all while eyeing the circling dragons who could start to dive down at any moment.
"Summer might've tried to go into the water." Leyla pointed to the coast beyond the grass hills and thin beaches, and Cutter and Aggro followed her direction, sweeping out along to the sea where the rebellioners didn't circle overhead.
Cutter focused in with his super vision but the water lapped calmly and clearly, no glimpse of a Fast Fin or Rockspitter or even Deadly Nadder. The coast glowed empty and Cutter was all out of ideas and it made him frustrated.
Shouldn't he know where to look? He spent a good portion of his early life here, why couldn't he seem to-
"There!"
Leyla swept his thoughts away as her pointing figure singled out a patch of purple scales among a few of the trees lining the edge of the beach.
The two dove down and stopped right before the mini spot of forest.
"Burple?"
The trees gave no response.
Leyla slid off Cutter's back and led the way into the small dense patch, eyes sharp for the owner of the purple scales.
