"....... And then the dragon fae gave up on his own essense and entered the reincarnation cycle as well. He's still waiting until today to meet his Xiao Zhan."
An old ancient man was telling a story to a young boy in the park. The old man looked frail and ancient but he still had the strength to tell the story non stop. As if this was something he must do.
"But he fell in love with Jiang Bingqing. Then why did he give up everything for Xiao Zhan. Bingqing can't ever come back right?" The little boy sounded curious.
"You're right, son! But you don't choose who you fall in love with." The old man looking at the distance exclaimed. His eyes unfocused. "He may have loved Jiang Bingqing. But he was in love with Xiao Zhan. Jiang Bingqing may have given him a purpose, but Xiao Zhan gave him the taste of life again. Someone who could make him look back and realise without Xiao Zhan his life was empty."
"Without Jiang Bingqing he spent a thousand years. But without Xiao Zhan he felt even one day was unbearable."
"There's a difference in his heart. You won't understand yet. When you grow up."
The little boy was even more confused. But if the grandpa says he'll understand when he grows up, he'll believe it. He looked at the unfocused look of the old man sitting right beside him.
He was just a little boy after all. How can he understand taugh topics like love and sacrifices?
"Why do I have the same name as the dragon fae grandpa?"
The old man looked at the little Yibo looking at him with big black eyes. The innocence in those eyes reminded the old man how the same eyes looked at him thounsands of years ago.
"Because you're just as brave as him. Just as strong."
The young boy looked taken aback with the words uttered. And at that exact moment he reminded the old man of a story thousand years old.
A story of love and sacrifices and forgiveness. The story of the first hyacinth and a love that could stand trial of time and could still find a way to bloom.
The old man found himself recounting the memories when he was just a young boy. When he first saw a red haired boy on his mother's lap looking curiously around with beautiful red eyes. Chubby hands trying to grab his own fire shade hair and smiling at him for the first time. He remembered how that boy grew up to be the holder of the fire pearl. Falling in love with the most beautiful snow fae in the world.
Fate played a sreud game with them but they defied fate. They stayed true to each other's love until the end. Even though it meant end in death.
And he grew up to see it all with his own eyes. Thus was his purpose. And then he got a new purpose too. To protect the fire pearl holder until he finds his mate again.
A small boy with pale skin ran towards them as a ball kept rolling towards the pond right behind. When the ball fell into pond and went farther away out of reach of the small boy, the boy became distressed. His face started showing traces of teares like raindrops but our little Yibo was fast to reach out to him.
"Why do you cry? It's just a ball."
The crying boy looked back at little Yibo and said in teary voice. "But that's a gift my Noona gave me."
"Noona?" Little Yibo was confused.
The little boy showed a family of the three sitting not far away. A man, a woman and a young girl of around ten.
"I'll get you your ball."
Little Yibo took a stick from the fence of the flower garden and used it to bring the ball back to the shore. He gave it to the younger boy and seeing the smile it was evident how happy the small boy was.
"What is your name?"
"Zhan." The smiling boy replied.
The old ancient man looked at this encounter with smiling eyes. He realised his work here was finally done. Now he can be free and rest.
A whisper escaped his lips. "Brother! You finally found your love. Goodbye."
The two small boys were lost in their own world when little Zhan asked little Yibo. "Who are you here with? Are you alone here?"
"No. I am here with my grandpa." He pointed his finger where the old man was sitting, telling him stories. "Look. There he is."
But this angered little Zhan. "There's no one there."
"There is. Look. There." But when little Yibo turned around to make sure he was stunned. There really was no one. The bench right in front of the pond was empty. As if there was no one sitting there to begin with.
When little Yibo got back home with the help of the Xiao family he instantly collapsed into his mom's embraced. He didn't know why he was feeling so distressed, like he lost someone who was closest to him. He knew this grandpa wasn't his own. But still he felt a tearing pain in his heart. As if it reminded him that someone he holds dear is snatched from him. And his heart was empty all of a sudden.
Not even the Wang family knew what was wrong with him. They just let him cry and calm down on his own.
But just as it should be, life goes on. And it did. For little Yibo and little Zhan.
As the wheel of time turned, the two became the closest friends. They started a story of their own.
The universe looked at the two and realised whatever it is, wasn't a wrong decision. This two were destined to be. Fate or not. The sacrifice they made became the legend in the fae world. And their dreams came true in this life.
Just like Xiao Zhan wanted he had a family, who loved him. He fell in love and was loved by that person.
Because in the end, he respected his own identity and life gave him back tenfold.
This is how a story ended. And another began.
Because not all stories start with,
'Once upon a time.......'
And end with,
'...... And then they lived happily ever after.'
THE END
Finally it's really ending.... I hate parting ways with this story... I'll make this short.... I can't keep my eyes open.... So let's go to sleep! Good night!
Enjoy
All the love
