While I washed up, I supposed Leon had been busy. By the time I exited the bathroom, feeling refreshed after my nap, he was standing on the balcony, overlooking the lights of what I figure was a village below us. The soft wind made the strands of his dark hair dance as the moonlight and the soft lighting at the table washed over his skin.
I said nothing as I watched him, finding myself loving the way his wide shoulders sloped down into a slender waist.
His body was the kind I fantasized about—but it was more than that. I fantasized about Leon in ways that couldn't be healthy or sane.
"Are you going to stand there staring all night, P?" He asked without turning to look at me. "Or would you like something to eat?"
Gasping, I dragged my palms along my thighs and stepped out onto the balcony. The temperature was perfect and as he pulled my chair out for me, my cheeks flared with heat.
"Thanks." I managed.
Leon offered me his usual bright smile, but his eyes told me something else.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"Khap."
That was a lie, but if he didn't want to talk about it. Nodding, I focused on the food on the table and for the first time realized just how good it all smelled. Inhaling deeply, I smiled.
Once he was seated, I picked up a stick of chicken satay and placed it on his plate. There was a large bowl of shrimps and I sigh.
I set some on a plate and began stripping them. Once I had a few done, I placed them on Leon's place and realized then he'd been staring at me with a smile on his lips. Blushing, I wiped my fingers in a napkin and blinked.
"What?"
"Nothing." Leon picked up a piece of lemon and squeezed the juice over the shrimps. "Thank you."
I stared longing at the panag curry. Glancing at Leon, I served myself some and moaned.
"This bring me good memories." I admitted. "This was the last meal my mother made for me before she died."
"Oh—I didn't know."
"It's okay." I told him as another bite brought tears to my eyes. "I just wish my sister was here to have this with me—this all."
"You have a sister, P?"
I nodded. "N'Flower. She's studying to become a Pharmacist."
"You must be proud of her."
I smiled. "She's a good kid. She just talked me into allowing her to get a part-time job. I've spent so many years protecting her, I realized I was holding on too tightly."
"All you can do is trust her." Leon advised. "She'll do the right thing—then if there is trouble she can't handle, she will call her big brother."
I nodded. "I hope. What about you?"
"You've met my brother, P'Leo." Leon reached over to peel a few more shrimps.
I watched as he placed two in a lettuce leaf along with some crushed peanuts, lemon juice and a few flakes of pepper. Carefully, he wrapped it and held it out to me.
When I reached for it, he pulled his hand back.
"Saw aww, P." Leon told me.
"Um—" I met his eyes.
I wasn't sure what it was about his eyes that took away my willpower. Licking my lips, I opened my mouth for him to feed me. He placed the wrapped morsel into my mouth then smiled.
