On-jo is currently looking for Su-hyeok and Cheong-san. After finding the two, On-jo called them.
"Cheong-san-ah, Su-hyeok." When they looked up, they saw On-jo, making them smile.
"Where have you been?" Cheong-san asked. "Yeah, we couldn't find you. You and Nam-ra. You two always disappear. If Hye-ji hears about this, she will kill me." Su-hyeok added, trying to joke, but when he saw the other two's faces, he stopped smiling.
Even after everything, Su-hyeok, Nam-ra, Ha-ri and On-jo were the only ones to believe that Hye-ji is still alive, that she's somewhere out there.
Su-hyeok cleared his throat before speaking again. "We saw the others a few times."
"I wanted to see them, but I couldn't bring myself to. In case it would remind me. But Nam-ra was there. We helped each other. Hye-ji wanted it, too." She started making the two guys to look at her.
"She wanted Nam-ra and I to be friends." She cleared. "Can you forget if you don't see them though?" Cheong-san asked his friend.
"Nam-ra and I went to the mountain last night and saw a campfire." She said before she stopped walking to face the two.
"I think someone lit a fire on the school rooftop." She added. "The rooftop? Are you sure?" Su-hyeok asked.
"I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure." She answered. The two looked at each other, before looking back at On-jo.
"I plan to go tonight." She said. "I'll go with you." Su-hyeok immediately answered, Cheong-san nodding as a sign that he wants to go too. On-jo nodded at them before turning to walk away.
But before On-jo can walk farther, Su-hyeok spoke. Something he's been wanting to tell On-jo ever since that day. "I'm sorry about that day." He said.
"About what?" On-jo asked. "That day when Hye-ji tried to bite you. Sorry I couldn't do anything." He answered, making Cheong-san look at him, shocked as he heard about this for the first time.
"It's okay. Your choice saved us all. Besides, I wouldn't have hurt her too. Ah. Don't tell the others. It could be dangerous, so let's go by ourselves." She said before walking away.
When On-jo was out of sight, Cheong-san sighed. He wants to know what happened that day but decided to shut up. He knows that Su-hyeok is still hurting after losing his best friend. He is close to Su-hyeok, yes, but nothing will change the fact that Hye-ji is his bestfriend.
-------
While On-jo was looking for Su-hyeok and Cheong-san, Nam-ra searched for Ha-ri. She deserves to know.
"Ha-ri unnie." She called the older as she saw her sitting alone inside a tent. The senior motioned for the class president to go in.
After reaching the camp, Ha-ri had obviously looked after Nam-ra, feeling that Hye-ji would want her to do it. She would've done the same thing to On-jo, but the girl had shut everyone out but Nam-ra.
Ha-ri and Nam-ra had grown closer. Their topic is mostly Hye-ji, their memories with her. They bonded through that. Through the pain of losing Hye-ji.
"On-jo and I went out to the mountain again." She started after she had sat down. "We saw a campfire. We think someone lit it at the school's rooftop." She added, but Ha-ri remained silent, trying to process what she had heard.
"Remember what I've told you before?" She asked, this time, Ha-ri answered. "You gave your lighter to Hye-ji." The older answered.
"And not just that. I think she have the Lightiny." Nam-ra told her. Ha-ri nodded, knowing where this conversation is going to end.
"I'm coming with you." She said and Nam-ra nodded. "Later tonight." Nam-ra simply answered before walking away.
-------
Nam-ra and On-jo are walking together. They are going to where they told Cheong-san, Su-hyeok, and Ha-ri to meet.
They stopped walking, surprise evident on On-jo's face while Nam-ra had managed to keep a straight face, she already predicted that this would happen.
In front of them stood the other 6 survivors of their group. The sound of the two's footsteps was enough to make them turn to face the two.
After seeing the look on On-jo's face, Su-hyeok smacked Dae-su's arm. "Yah, I told you not to tell anyone else." He said.
Dae-su then faced Hyo-ryeong, but sighed knowing well that Hyo-ryeong and the seniors don't really talk.
"She said she'd tell the cops if we didn't take her." Ha-ri said, looking at Nam-ra who just nodded. It was obvious that the class president had already predicted that this would happen.
"Fuck it. They won't give me special admission." Mi-jin said as she stepped on the cigarette she was smoking earlier.
"How is that related to this? They'll lock us up if we get caught." Dae-su argued. "I'd rather go to jail if I can't get into college." Mi-jin answered back.
"Let's go. Just climb over that wall, right?" Mi-jin added, looking at the tall wall separating them from the outside of the camp.
"You're really going? All of you?" On-jo asked. "You're not the only one who feels indebted. We're all hurting just like you. Being alone doesn't make it hurt less." Cheong-san told her.
"Besides, we areHye-ji's friends." Dae-su added. "Who isn't? Everyone is her friend. She's agood friend to everyone." Hyo-ryeong added, making Ha-ri smile. That sounds veryHye-ji. She knows how Hye-ji likes to make friends, to make sure that everyoneis doing well.
-------
They started walking to the mountains, but stopped when Nam-ra and On-jo stopped by a tree. They noticed the ribbons hanging around. As well as the untouched snacks right below.
The others started to put new snacks under the tree. Dae-su made sure to put the chocolate they ate at the storage room of the gym, for Joon-young.
"What is that?" Hyo-ryeong asked. "Well, I couldn't throw it away. Joon-young-ah. I'll buy you a box next time." He said making Mi-jin sigh.
Ha-ri turned to where the school is located. "I see a light." She said, making the others turn to looks as well.
"Where?" Hyo-ryeong asked, so Ha-ri pointed at it.
"Hey, I think that really is our school." Hyo-ryeong said, the others nodding in agreement. Ha-ri then looked at Nam-ra.
She took her hand before they started walking again. If ever they are wrong with this, she knows that besides her, Nam-ra would be hurt the most.
-------
They first came to the construction site where they left Hyun-jin. "Woah. It's a total wreck." Dae-su commented while walking.
There were no signs of Hyun-jin nor Hye-ji so they have decided to leave the site. Cheong-san leading the group while Su-hyeok is at the tail.
But before Su-hyeok can go out, he leaned to the wall. The exact wall where Hye-ji broke down after losing Hyun-jin.
"I'm sorry, Ji-ji-ah." He whispered before wiping a tear that fell and followed the others.
-------
They finally reached the school. Almost everything was turned to ashes. They continued walking, but Su-hyeok spoke to Nam-ra who is walking a little in front of him with Ha-ri.
"You really think it's Hye-ji?" He asked. "Yes. I don't know why but I think it's her." Nam-ra replied. They continued to walk and finally, they reached the door to the rooftop.
And they saw it. The campfire. But the lightstick wasn't there. Was Nam-ra and On-jo imagining things when they thought they saw the glow of the Lightiny?
