TW: Mentions of death and suicide.
Hyun-jin looked at his bitten arm before looking at the group, stepping back. "It's okay." On-jo told him, as she walked towards him. He looked at Hye-ji who was still covering her ears, Nam-ra right beside her. As he saw this, he can't help but smile.
At least I know I wouldn't be leaving Hye-ji alone.
"It's not what you think. It's okay." On-jo continued, approaching him. When he continued stepping back, now his eyes on On-jo, the girl let out a frustrated sigh as she stomped on the ground.
"I said it's okay. Don't do that. You'll be fine." She said. "Jo-ah. No one...will die here today." Hyun-jin said. "Don't say anything. Let's talk tomorrow, okay?" On-jo told him.
Hyun-jin then ripped his nametag out of his uniform, giving it to On-jo. "Hold onto it." He said as he pulled out On-jo's nametag out of his pocket. "And I'll hold onto this." He said, trying his best to no let the tears fall.
Before On-jo can say anything, Hyun-jin walked towards the crying Hye-ji. He held Hye-ji's hand, putting it in his heart.
"You feel that Hye-ji? My heart is still beating. Always remember this feeling. When you think of me, I want you to remember that my heart is still beating." He said as he failed to keep his tears anymore, letting them falls as Hye-ji looked at his face.
"You can't leave me, Hyun-jinnie. I can't do this without you. You have been the reason I survived this long. Without you I would've been gone for a year now." Hye-ji replied. Everyone else is crying. Hyun-jin didn't answer but instead gave Hye-ji a tight hug.
"Take care of everyone for me, will you? Take care of On-jo for me." He whispered before kissing her forehead as he stood up. Hye-ji tried standing up as well, but she heard the drones again.
"Ha-ri noona, Wu-jinnie. You take care of each other." He said, gicving the two a sad smile. He was about to walk away but On-jo held his hand and pulled him towards her, crashing her lips on his.
After the short but sweet moment shared between the two, Hyun-jin pulled away with a smile on his face. He was once again about to walk away but he thought against it and gave On-jo a hug.
"Take care of yourself. And please, take care of Hye-ji. You know she will blame herself. Please..." He whispered to On-jo as he started crying again. He knows what will happen to Hye-ji. She will blame herself.
He still remembers the day after Hye-ji and him talked about Dong-min. He just came home from school so he went straight to Hye-ji's room, wanting to spend his time with her, to help her feel better. He tried knocking but no one is answering the door. So after his third try, he tried opening the door, and it wasn't locked. But what he saw will forever haunt him. The image of his twin sister hanging with a rope around her neck.
He quickly got a stool to stand on and let Hye-ji's head out of the rope. After that he quickly dialed the emergency hotline, crying over his twin's body. What would've happened if he didn't go straight to her room? What would've happened if he didn't try to open her door? What would've happened if he stayed late at school?
Only their closest friend knew about this, even Su-hyeok, who hasn't talk to Hye-ji knew about it. Even if they were not talking that time, Su-hyeok still visited Hye-ji in the hospital, making sure to visit when she is sleeping.
Even while crying, On-jo nodded against Hyun-jin's arms. "I will. But you should take care of yourself too." She told him and he nodded. "Thank you." He told her, tightening his grip on On-jo.
He then felt something weird, making him push Hye-ji towards Cheong-san, who is also crying. "Cheong-san, go to the first floor." He instructed to which Cheong-san nodded. Hearing this, Hye-ji pushed herself off the ground. "Hyun-jin don't go." She said, Nam-ra helping her stabilize herself.
"Believe me Hwang Hyun-jin, if you step foot inside that building, I'll fucking hunt you down and kill you myself." Hye-ji threatened but Hyun-jin just smiled at her. She was about to walk towards him but Su-hyeok stood on her way, not letting her to step closer to Hyun-jin. "Fuck. Let me go. Let me talk to him." She said. "It's okay, Hye-ji." Hyun-jin told her with a smile before jumping inside the building.
"No...Stop. Let me go. I can't...no. I can't live without him." Just then, the strong aura that she built just awhile ago crumbled into pieces as she cried and Nam-ra just hugged her. "Fuck. Come back." She said, her words fading out because of her cry, as she slid down to the ground as well, feeling her energy leave her.
"Hey! Come get me. All of you. Today, I am the happiest guy in this school!" He shouted as he tried getting the attention of every zombie in the building.
Back to the group, Cheong-san is still holding On-jo, but Hye-ji seemed to calm down. "I'm fucking killing him myself if I see him again." She mumbled, but everyone heard it.
Mi-jin looked at the window, looking to see if there are still zombies out there. "Ha-ri-ah. Let's go." She said. Ha-ri quickly wiped her tears using her hand, composing herself. The kids need her right now. There is no time to break.
Before going after Mi-jin, she went to Hye-ji. "Come on, Hye-ji. We need each other right now. We have to stay strong, okay?" She told her before looking at Nam-ra, trusting that the class president will take care of her younger sister. Ha-ri then held On-jo's wrist. "We have to go." Ha-ri told her.
"Hye-ji-ah, Let's go." Nam-ra told Hye-ji with a soft voice. But of course she can't do it alone so Su-hyeok helped her, seeing as Cheong-san is with On-jo right now. "Let's go." Su-hyeok said, as he halped Nam-ra with Hye-ji.
After jumping inside the building, they proceeded to run down the stairs as they heard Hyun-jin's voice, screaming to get the zombies' attention. The continued running until they got out of the building. Right after getting out of the building, Gwi-nam set foot into the hallway.
"I'll let you idiots go, because I know Hye-ji is with you, and because I know Hyun-jin, that bastard is still here." He said to no one in particular.
The group continued running and soon enough they got out of school property. The group has found their way towards the mountain when the explosion happened.
"Hyun-jin..." Hye-ji whispered, looking at the explosion. She feels like crying, but there were no tears left to cry. Hye-ji then used her body to cover Nam-ra from the flying debris form the explosion that happened.
After the explosion, the group stood up. The Jang siblings quickly going to the only Hwang left in the group. They know that there will be no words that can be said to comfort the girl right now. But they also know that their presence will help her.
Feeling like her twin has left her a responsibility to take care of the group, Hye-ji looked around. Ignoring the pang in her heart with the thought of her twin.
"Is anybody hurt?" She asked, before anyone can answer though, she saw Dae-su's bleeding leg. "Unnie, I think it's best to take a rest for now, and continue tomorrow, it's dark anyway, we will have a hard time looking for the way." She told Ha-ri who looked at her with concern-filled eyes before nodded.
"Okay. She's right, we should take a rest for now." She told the group as everyone tried to find a place to rest. Hye-ji then turned to Nam-ra who was watching her the whole time.
"Are you okay, Nam-ra? Are you hurt?" She asked but the class president just shook her head. She saw concern in Nam-ra's eyes so she told her. "I'm okay."
Ha! As if anyone's going to believe her.
