Annabeths pov

It's been two weeks since the war against Gaea and things are starting to go back to 'normal'. Well as 'normal' as things get when your a demigod. Both camps are helping rebuild after the war while others focus on their own lives. The war took a toll on each and every single one of us but more so on some than others.

Percy and I decided that we needed a break from camp. He went back to stay with his mom and step-dad while I figured it was high time that I go back to my own family. The only downside would that once I got back I would have to go back to high school.

Thankfully I was able to catch a ride from blackjack. He landed right in front of my house. I sat there for a minute pondering on how things might go down, but blackjack's whinny brought me out of my train of thought.

I looked down to see blackjack turn his head to face the house. I reached down and gave him a good pat on the neck. " I'm sorry boy, unlike Percy I can't understand what exactly you're saying. But I will make sure he does treat you to a box of donuts for your long flight." I said sliding off blackjack's back.

He gave me one more whinny before turning around and taking flight back towards camp. With him gone I turned towards my dads house and tried to push down all the bad feelings I got within that moment, before walking up the the front door.

I took a deep breath before raising my hand and knocking on the door. At first it was quite but then I herd foots behind the door. It slowly creaked open revealing a very unhappy Bobby. Upon realizing who I was he turned quickly on his heels and yelled for mom and dad. He left the door unattended as I walked through only to be bombarded by my dad.

"Oh Annabeth your home." He said as he squeezed the breath out of me.

"Can't...breathe" I said between breath's.

"Oh right, sorry. I guess I'm just happy to see you!" He said, "So how's the other half?"

Upon mentioning Percy I immediately dropped my eyes to the ground and began to fight back the tears. Unwanted memories started to flood my vision but I quickly pushed them to the back of my mind. Only releasing a single tear which caught my dads attention.

" Annabeth I'm sorry, I didn't mean too. When I got word from Chiron that you and Percy had disappeared, I wasn't sure what to think or do. And now your here and I'm not sure how to handle it." He said pulling me into another hug.

"It's ok, we're ok." I said trying to reassure him that I'm ok, " I'm just going to need some time to adjust, that's all." He released me from his hug and took a few steps away. " We'll dinner should be done in a few minutes. Go put your stuff away and we can catch up during dinner." He said as turned and walked back into the kitchen.

I slowly walked upstairs and into my room. Everything was just the way it was when I left, I was a little shocked by this because Bobby and Matthew had a tendency to destroy my things. I guess when they found out about my parentage they thought it was cool and respected my things. I put my clothes back where they belong and headed into the bathroom. I went to change into some clean pj's but caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and froze. I took a closer look into the mirror and saw all the new scars that I had acquired over the summer. It reminded me too much of that place but I pushed the feelings to the back of my head and finished getting dressed and fixed my wind blown hair.

I slowly walked downstairs because my ankle still hurt a little. Turning the corner I herd my parents arguing about something. I limped into the kitchen to find them face to face with each other, both of them unaware I was standing there.

"Look all I'm saying is that she has had a ruff summer and it might be beneficial if you weren't so hard on her."

"I'm not hard on her, I'm just a little concerned of how she may act."

"What do you mean 'how she may act?" I figured it was time to make my self known.

"You realize I'm standing right here? What are you arguing about now?" I said crossing my arms and trying not to lean to much on the ankle.

"Your mother is just worried that things may be different around here now that your back."

"Look if you're that worried I can go and stay at camp Jupiter. I'm sure they won't mind." I said looking back and forth between my dad and step-mom as they had silent argument. "No, that is out of the question I told Chiron that I would look after you and that is what I'm going to do."

I looked at my step-mom and her facial expression softened as I starred at her. "Bobby and Matthew get cleaned up for dinner." She yelled from the kitchen. I could hear to the ruckus coming from the bathroom as my brothers were fighting over the sink. Just as the sink cut off both boys immediately ran to the table just in time for their plates to be set down. My dad and step-mom grabbed their plates and sat down to eat.

" Annabeth please help your self. I know we haven't seen eye to eye but this is just as much of your house as it is mine." My step-mom smiled at me. "Umm, no it's ok. I'm not hungry right now, actually I'm pretty tired do you mind if I just head to bed?" I said pointing to the stairs.

"Sure honey, I'll see you bright and early tomorrow. Try and get some sleep, tomorrow you start back to school." I sighed and started for the stairs. I got to my room and flopped on my bed. My thoughts were racing but eventually started to slow as I began getting tired. In no time I drifted off into the realm of dreams.
