Caleb's pov
Grace, Victoria and Austin had left a few minutes ago leaving me to my thoughts which I was suddenly pulled out of when the doctor walked in. "Well I see someone's awake. So how are we feeling?" I let out a sigh before answering "Minus the killer pain in my head and the stinging sensation in my back I think I'm ok." "Well if I'm honest you should be thankful those two teens got to you before you could bleed out."
"Wait, what teens?" I said as I lurched forward with a confused look on my face. "I believe her lest name was chase but I can't seem to remember the boys name and from what I've herd from your friends is that you know them?" I could feel my face start to get hot as I let out a big huff before flopping back on my hospital bed. "I wouldn't call him a friend but the girls name is Annabeth and she's one of my best friends." I said crossing my arms.
"Well I guess there won't be any 'thank you for saving my life' in his future." I made a face when I herd those words leave his mouth. "Let's just say we had a falling out." I said as I crossed my arms. "Well why don't you tell me about it while I check you over?"
"His name is Percy and I thought he was cool at first but then I started noticing things about him that I wasn't to fond of..."
"Oh. Like what kind of things? Can you lean forward for me? I need to check your wound."
"Yeah." I took a breath as I leaned forward but I quickly released it as I winced in pain. "Anyways the girl that was with him is his best friend from her summer camp. She has been my best friend since I was a freshman. But when her so called "friend" moved here she seemed happier."
"Alright go ahead and lay back down. And how did you feel about that?"
I leaned backwards as I felt my back burst into flames and my wound pressed against the bed. "Well I didn't like it at first and I still don't but all that mattered was that she was happy. And it didn't help that I have had a crush on her since I first laid eyes on her."
"Oh so it's a protective thing?"
"Maybe but that's not where I'm going with this. You see over winter break she went back to her so called 'summer camp' in New York. When she left she had not a spot on her..."
"What do you mean 'not a spot on her'?"
"Bruises and cut marks. And when she came back she had a few but then he moved here I noticed more and more keep showing up."
"So you think he's hurting her?"
"Maybe but no will believe me because I have no proof and when I confronted him last night he did this."
"Wait you think he did this?"
"Yes! I think he was trying to scare me enough so I wouldn't look into it?" I let out a loud huff before crossing my arms again.
"Well I can tell you your wound is looking better but unfortunately I don't know how to help with your problem."
"So you can't do anything?"
"Well like you said 'you don't have proof', which means I don't have proof to claim he's hurting her. But I can tell you this, if you think he's really hurting her then don't let your self or your friends be alone with him.." He said as he got up out of the chair and walked out of my room.
The rest of the night those words rattled through my head. The next two days went by in flash, I mostly spent them trying to make up a plan about how to prove I was right about Percy. I went through so many plans but I kept coming back to the plan where we never let Percy out of our sight especially with Annabeth.
Just as I was starting to re-write out my plan a knock startled me out of thoughts. As the door creaked open I got a better view of who was there, I became a little more relaxed as Austin, Grace and Victoria walked through.
"Hey man, how you doing?" Austin said as he patted my shoulder. "Wow! You really have been busy haven't you?" Victoria said as she pointed to the pile of crumbled up papers on the floor. "Right I forgot. I have been making up different plans on how to protect Annabeth from Percy." I said as I straightened up my papers that were on the bed.
"Your still looking into Percy?" Grace said as she took a few steps towards me. "I thought you were going to drop it?" I thought she was kidding with me at first but I soon realized she was being serious. "Wait a minute. I thought you guys were on board with this?" All three of them paused and looked back and forth between the three of them. "You see that's the thing. We thought that you just needed to cool off from your fight with him. We didn't think you were serious."
I couldn't help but feel betrayed as they told me they thought I was just kidding. "I can't believe this. You really thought I was joking with you, why on earth would I joke about something so serious?" They all stood silent, the only sound you could here was the rolling wheels of the carts outside the door. "Look we are sorry, we had no idea you were this serious about making up a plan to not allow Annabeth to be alone with Percy." Victoria said as she stepped forward to place her hand on my hospital bed.
I relaxed some because I knew I was over reacting. "It's not your fault, I should have been more straight forward than I was." "No, you were pretty straight forward but we didn't believe you because you have no proof. And I know that isn't a reason for not believing someone." Grace said as she stepped forward to aline herself with the others. "But now we know your serious about this and I think I can speak for everyone when I say this. So what's the plan now?' She finished.
I took in a deep breath before explaining my plan. "We have about 3 months before Annabeth leaves and goes back to her summer camp. That means we have until then prove I was right about Percy. We do that by keeping our eyes on him at all times. He is not to left alone with her."
