Joe's POV
"Is everyone present? We're going to bring you all on soon." An event manager stands beside the door that leads up to the main stage, where the QnA is being held. All of my friends are crowded into this room, and Eila is standing beside me with her sweaty hand gripped in my own.
"What if I say something stupid on stage? Oh god Joe, I don't think I can do this." Eila says as she ravages her bottom lip in her teeth.
"You'll be fine, I promise." I reassure her, although my insides feel slightly nauseated at the thought of appearing in front of such a large crowd. Still, it isn't the first time I have attended a meet up and at least I know what I'm doing. Eila's stumbling into this situation completely blind, so I am a bit worried for her.
However if she is anything like she was at our meetup earlier today, she will be brilliant.
I glance around the small room at the various faces. I make eye contact with my sister who is sitting on a Alfie's lap, the two of them cuddled into a sofa whispering in each others ears. She gives me a tiny smile, and I don't doubt that she is experiencing her usual anxiety. Thank god Alfie is there to comfort her or else she would be a wreck by now. Earlier this morning when Alfie went to check on her she had a bout of panic, however she seems to be more relaxed now.
Everyone else appears to be one of two extremes - very nervous of very excited. Caspar is of course the most excited of the lot - he is beaming from ear to ear, his movements jittery as he waits for our cue to enter the stage. Tyler is trying to calm him down, while Troye stands watching the two of them with fondness in his eyes. Not surprising as it is clear how much the two guys mean to him, even if the nature of their relationships with him are completely different. Caspar is like Troye's big brother in some ways, and Tyler is something entirely different.
At least that's what it looks like.
But I don't have time to dwell on the dynamics of Troylers relationship because 'Steve' the event manager is calling everyone to order. An eerie quiet transcends over the room and the occasional 'good luck' and 'break a leg' is uttered to break the quiet. We form a line in the order we decided on earlier: Caspar, Myself, Eila, Zoe, Alfie, Marcus, Niomi, Tanya, Jim, Phil, Dan, Louise, Troye and Connor. Tyler would be hosting the QnA.
"Try not to say anything stupid please. Oh and don't all talk at once." Tyler says with a cheeky smirk on his face as he waits at the front, microphone in hand. Each of us are fitted with a head piece and a small microphone to amplify our voices. The plan is to do a cliche 'who is most likely to' activity and to answer various questions from the audience. Since we've had literally no practice, most of this QnA is going to be improvised. Shit.
I turn around to see Eila giving Zoe a big hug, probably because she was particularly worried about her this morning. Zoe makes eye contact with me and winks, which lessens my nerves a tiny bit. My sister and my girlfriend eventually part, taking deep breaths as they do. I immediately grip onto Eila's hand again when she turns back around to face me.
"You ready?" I ask, squeezing her hand impossibly hard. She squeezes back with an equal amount of force.
"Let's do it."
Steve motions for us all to shut up, and he leads Tyler through the stage door. I smile as I hear the inhuman screams sounding from behind the curtain as Tyler walks on stage, his blue eyes no doubt bright and his white teeth shining in the lights. Tyler was definitely born to entertain people.
The atmosphere in the room is buzzing as we all wait for him to call us on. Still none of us utter a word as we strain our eyes to listen.
"How are y'all doing today!" Tyler's words are received with a symphony of manic screaming, the sound so loud that I can actually hear ringing in my ears. Caspar turns around to grin at me and I return it, although I can feel the nerves setting in now.
