There's a storm coming in from the West, it's pretty obvious from the dark clouds and faint sounds of thunder in the distance. I mean, we're most definitely going to make it to Wren Town before the storm hits... If that's a good thing...
"I'm so hungry..." Lucifer groaned loudly, sulking behind me.
"Shut your trap, we're almost there. Only about another hours or so." I grumbled. God, he is really annoying. Even so, I'm not paying for this idiot's lunch. "And, you're paying for your food."
"What? An hour? That's insane, you expect me to last that long! You must be a special kind of stupid." Lucifer replied. "And, I'm pretty much broke."
"So am I." I grumbled. It's probably be best to become the quiet, polite me again. If we're constantly fighting, nothing will get done.
"How are we going to eat, woman? We're going to starve to death!" Lucifer cried, as if he was shouting to the heavens.
"We win battles, the prize money is our food and supply money. No luxuries even if we end up with a lot of money, because you never know what will happen." I replied.
"You're boring."
"No, I'm calm, collected, and logica-- wah" before I could even process what had happened, I was on the ground with a small pain in my side.
"Um!" The thing shouted. I looked up to see an Umbreon sending a shadow ball at Lucifer, who barely managed to dodge it.
"There he is, get him! He needs to become a drone, he knows too much." Grunts from Team Ore ran out of the wooded area on the side of the route and grabbed Lucifer.
"Hey, stop!" I shouted.
"Emilia, just because you're the daughter of our leader means you can date Lucifer!" One shouted.
"Wha- I am not dating that imbecile! But I need him to stay with me on my journey!" I shouted, sending out Turtwig and Gible.
"Now, Emelia, don't do anything stupid, or your father will send us to get you too." The tallest grunt said, grabbing Lucifer.
"Let me go, moron!" Lucifer growled.
"Turtwig, tackle on the grunts! Gible, earthquake!" I shouted. As the ground immediately began to shake, everyone but me fell over. I braved myself since I knew what would happen. Then Turtwig tackled each grunt one by one, dazing them a little. I ran over to the pile of people and pulled Lucifer up.
"Let's go!" I shouted as I retrieved my Pokemon and ran.
"Emilia, quit making this so hard!" The grunt shouted as they got to their feet and began to chase us.
"Here." I said, grabbing Lucifer's arm. I took a sharp right and another sharp left as soon as I could, leading us to an alley between two buildings. "Hide." I hid in an empty box once I made sure there was nothing in it, and I'm not sure where Lucifer hid. Before the grunts arrived, I pulled boxes towards me and piled them up, putting a big one above my box. I think I'm safe.
"The only place they can be after making a right is in the alley or a building!" I heard a deep voiced grunt shout.
"Sure, each building has a back entrance. They could have easily escaped like that. By now they could be out of Wren Town in the route to Juby City or even the base of the volcano!" Another grunt said.
"True... First, check the dumpster, and the boxes in the top, then we'll move on." The first grunt said. Good thing I put that box on me. But what if Lucifer is in the dumpster?
I heard the lid of the dumpster being lifted, but the grunts said nothing. Whew... After that, I heard boxes being searched through, and my stomach clenched. What if they just decide to look in the lower ones, too?
I heard the box above me being searched through, and I immediately held my breath. What if they heard me? What if they find me? More importantly, what if they find Lucifer? If they do, any slim chance I had offering my biological parents will be demolished! Well, if my parents are even alive...
"Nothing, sir." One grunt right by me said.
"Okay, let's head to the volcano. It'll be easier to determine whether they're there or not, so our search, in turn, will be faster." The deep voices grunt said.
"Aye, sir!" The group of probably lower class grunts said in unison. I heard them running off, but I didn't get out of the box just in case.
"Hey, Emilia?" I heard Lucifer whisper. "It's safe to come out, just whisper just in case, sweetheart." I bet he winked as he said that, ugh.
I pushed the box above me out of the way and stood up, glaring at Lucifer. "How many times do I have to tell you, do not call ma sweetheart." I growled.
"Calm down, sweetheart." He said with an evil smirk. So much for whispering.
Just take a few deep breaths, he's looking for a reaction. Don't give him one. "Let's go to the Pokemon Centre, and think about what I have to do in my first gym battle." I said, making it sound like we're discussing strategies, just in case someone could hear us.
"Oh, well, I have to do something. Here's fifty pokedollars, get us a room." He said before running off. He's probably just getting good, whatever. At least he's playing for his food and half of the cost for our room. I walked out of the alley and made a right. I walked for a minute or two until I had reached the pink roofed building, and I walked in.
"A room for two, please." I said, putting Lucifer's fifty Pokedollars and 50 Pokedollars of mine on the table. Hey, at least I'm my crazy exhausted like last time.
"Sure, here's your key! Your room is room 104!" The Nurse Joy said as she handed me a key.
"Thank you." I replied. At least all that chaos is over so I can just be a calm and collective trainer again. I don't want to be anything but that.
I walked to the left, and my room was the second on the left. I unlocked to the door and walked in, sighing happily as I fell back into the bottom bunk of the two beds. That was a long walk, though. And, I was way off when I told Lucifer we were probably an hour away from Wren Town, as we were literally ten minutes away. It's only mid afternoon, so I unfortunately have time to visit the gym today... I can stalk it by taking a shower, though! I do happen to be a sweating mess, anyway. I walked to the bathroom and turned the shower on, and pulled pajamas out of my bag. The gym can wait until tomorrow.
Once I had gotten undressed, I made sure Lucifer hadn't found the room then hurried and put my clothes in the laundry basket and ran back into the bathroom. Once I had locked the door, I hopped into the shower and just stood there, not even bothered when the water got cold. I just don't want to get out. A shower is like a little haven where you're at peace, at least until you're brutally murdered by a serial killer and the police find your dead body naked. That would suck. I mean the death would suck more, but... Yeah.
I finally gave in to the icy cold water and turned off the shower, then quickly hopped out and towel dried my short green hair the best I could. Then, I threw my pajamas on and walked out to the bedroom area. To stall even more, I ordered a small meal and a soda from room service. Once the small salad and soda arrived and I had paid, I sat on the bottom bunk and turned on the television. The news was on. I took a big drink of soda as I watched it.
When I saw the headline, I spit my soda out.
