"Rise and shine, it may still be raining but I have come prepared with umbrellas to spare us from the little razors of liquid slicing into our skin." That monotonous robot girl said at an unruly hour. Seriously, the sun hadn't even begun to rise!

"What...?" I asked. "I wouldn't say rain 'slices our skin', but okay..."

"I apologise. As I am a test subject, I am allergic to water, in a sense that it was cause me to short circuit if I do anything besides drink it." Kiari replied.

"Oh, okay..." I replied, forcing myself into a sitting position. "I'm going to get dressed, I suppose... But, isn't it a little early...?"

"It is never too early to begin a travel. I even trained your Pokemon up to the level necessary to take on the second gym." Kiari said, handing me two Pokeballs as I pulled clothes out of my bag.

"... What...?" I mumbled. "Thanks?"

"No need to thank me, it was easier than eating a slice of cake."

"... You mean, it was a peace of cake?" Lucifer asked groggily.

"No, I would probably have eaten your Pokemon if they were a piece of cake."

"It's an idiom, Kiari." Lucifer sighed.

"When I became a test subject, I lost much of my ability to differentiate literal from figurative. I hate idioms."

"Oh, okay..." Lucifer said. I awkwardly walked to the bathroom and got dressed. Once I had brushed my teeth and hair and cleaned my mess, I let Lucifer in to get ready.

"We are to meet Satsugai at the next city, Juby City. From there, we are to decide what to do about the gym leader of that city. I recommend you capturing another pocket monster to aid you on your journey. My suggestion is a fire type."

"Okay, and how will we communicate with Satsugai? You said she was mute."

"She has a Xatu, he will communicate her thoughts to you via telepathy."

"Oh, okay..." I said.

"I'm still mad that we have to leave this early. It's five thirty, I only got like seven hours of sleep!" Lucifer exclaimed. "I'm probably going to die!"

"Calm down. Pack your belongings and let's get going." Kiari replied calmly.

"I'm already packed." I said, grabbing my bag and putting my pokeballs away safely.

"Hold up." Lucifer mumbled, angrily stuffing his pajamas into his backpack. Once he finished, he zipped up the black backpack and threw it over his shoulder. He put the brown hood of his jacket up and said, "Okay, now I'm ready."

"Affirmative." Kiari said, handing us each a plain black umbrella. "Despite the fact that I am the only one that could have the rain conflict any bodily harm to me, I remember vaguely that before I became a test subject, I still used an umbrella to take cover from the rain."

"Thanks, Kiari." I said, taking the umbrella. Lucifer took the other umbrella she was holding with a nod, and Kasai pulled out yet another umbrella for herself.

We walked out of our room in silence, heading towards the Pokemon Centre lobby. I handed the room keys to the smiling Nurse Joy before following the others outside. The moment we stepped out into the windy and rainy day, we opened up our umbrellas.

"There are three exits from this town. We will be taking the Northwest route to Juby City. The walk will be an estimated three to five hours, maybe six from the rain."

"And I only got seven hours of sleep? Oh man, this is going to be horrible for me..." Lucifer grumbled, glaring at the ground.

"You are exaggerating." Kiari said simply. "Emilia, you may find trouble in capturing another pocket monster-especially a fire type-in this weather. I suggest that you wait until the rain is gone."
