Chapter Fifteen- Childish War

"At least the security cameras showed our innocence, so we aren't prime suspects," I sighed, watching the news report on Silver's death.

"Whatever," Lucifer grumbled, petting his Deino.

"Lighten up, Lucifer. You're supposed to be the humour of the book. Some readers love you because you provide humour throughout this serious story," I replied.

"Book?" Lucifer asked.

"Well, if any sort of fourth wall exists, the valiant hero just beat it to dust," Kiari chuckled, although her eyes were cast down in sadness due to Satsugai.

"It was a joke," I explained awkwardly, sheepishly rubbing the back of my head.

"Whatever. At least you don't suspect me or "whatever Kiari said, right?" Lucifer asked.

"Actually, I still suspect you," Kiari stated, staring blankly at him.

"What in the distortion world? Why?" Lucifer asked.

"The masked man did not appear... Satsugai did... Therefore, you are still a suspect," She explained, tearing up a little at the mention of Satsugai.

"How close are you and Satsugai?" I asked awkwardly.

"She's what you would call a 'best friend'," Kiari sighed.

"Oh, okay..." I mumbled.

"Oh my Arceus!" Lucifer shouted, looking at what seemed to be a brochure. They leave these in the Pokemon Centre rooms in some popular locations. I normally don't look at them, and I'm surprised Lucifer even knows how to read.

"What?" Kiari and I asked in unison.

"I didn't realise they had a beach here! Guys, we should go chill out for a while there!" He explained.

"I don't have a bathing suit, does the Pokemart sell any?" I asked. "And, Kiari can't swim."

"I can't swim, but relaxing on the beach is ideal for me," Kiari stated. "And, yes, they do offer a variety of bathing suits."

"Well, then we can go to the beach!" I exclaimed, sending out my Pokemon. "Here that guys, we're going to have fun!"

"Pachi!" Pachirisu exclaimed. "... Pa..."

"Oh yeah, electric types can't go in water..." I mumbled awkwardly. "Well, maybe Litleo will play with you on the sand! The water isn't great for him, either..." I suggested.

"Leo!" Litleo agreed with a toothy grin.

"Alright, let's go buy some bathing suits!" I exclaimed. Whew, it'll be great to have a break from all of this!

"Yeah!" Lucifer exclaimed. We actually have a common interest for once, wow.

I got excited and dashed out of the building, running across the street to the Pokemon Centre. If I seem way too excited for this, then put yourself in my shoes. Yeah, this sounds great!

I ran into the blue roofed building, seeing a whole array of swim suits occupying roughly half of the store's shelves. Well, this is a popular vacation spot at this time of year.

I spotted a zebra patterned one-piece, and, I fell in love with it immediately. Zebra stripes are really cool, you know? There was even a black towel that came with it!

The medium looked like it' would fit me, so I just went with that since there's no dressing rooms. As I walk over to the cash register, I see Lucifer grab a pair of midnight black swim trunks. Kiari just stood by the door awkwardly, waiting for us with my Pokemon. At least she's got an eye on my Pokemon.
