Chapter 12

3rd POV

"Wake up you scum!"

That was the first thing Tanjiro heard when he woke up. He slowly separated his eyelids to see who it was. And of course it was none other then the wind hashira along with their master and his children. He sat up and looked at them.

"Good morning Tanjiro" The man smiled while going a little closer to the cell.

"Oyakata-sama don't-"

Ubuyashiki put his index finger on his lips. Sanemi went quiet and held his guard up in case Tanjiro did something unexpected.

"I heard that Tomioka went down here yesterday, he didn't do anything to you right?" He looked at his children to show that he wanted to sit down. He couldn't stand for to long because of his sickness.

'What-'

Tanjiro was completely lost. He tilted his head in confusion. But the memories came back in a flash.

'Oh right, he offered me some tea and gave me company for a while'

It was better to just tell them instead of just sitting there like an idiot.

"We drank tea" He scratched his head and layed down again.

"I see..." Ubuyashiki looked at Tanjiro who was laying on his back.

"If that went well, then Sanemi could keep you company for today. Is that alright?"

Tanjiro turned his head towards them and sat up.

"I gue-"

"What?! No I'm not-"

"Hush my child and let the boy speak".

"Tch" Sanemi turned his back against the cell bars.

"Now, please continue what you were about to say"

"I guess...but can I see...Nezuko?"

"Of course, but she's on a mission right now but she'll be back soon". Tanjiro bowed down a little.

"No need to bow Tanjiro"

Tanjiro looked up at him. Those eyes that were slowly loosing its color. It's sad because of how much he's suffering from the curse. Tanjiro knew that he was blind, but he looked up to him because of his genuine care about the members of the Demon slayer corps.

"I'm sorry for ruining most of the estate, and for hurting some of you" Tanjiro looked down in shame.

"No need to apologize, you were clearly uncomfortable and stressed to be there and acted out of instinct". Ubuyashiki reached out his hand just to reveal that he was giving him a rice ball.

"I'm sure that you don't eat humans, so please take this instead".

Tanjiro took the rice ball and started eating it. He savored every bit of it. When finishing his last bite of it, he looked up at Ubuyashiki and crept a little closer.

"Thank you..."

Ubuyashiki felt at ease and smiled back, he also made a sign for Tanjiro to come a bit closer. He knew that Nezuko loved head pats so he wanted to try it on Tanjiro too, even tho he knew that this could be something Tanjiro would react to, he was willing to take the risk.

He layed his hand on top of his head and stroked his hair. Which in return, Tanjiro leaned into his hand, admiring his gentleness. Ubuyashiki gave a small chuckle while Sanemi on the other hand just pouted in annoyance.

"I'll send a crow to Nezuko so she'll know where to head after her mission, and Sanemi you stay here atleast until she arrives". Ubuyashiki took away his hand and stood up. He started walking away with his children who was helping him to balance. He waved back at the two of them, returning a small wave from the boy.
