Wilbur awoke late the next day. 1:36pm to be exact.

At first, he panicked about being late for his patrol, but then he remembered that he canceled it. He groaned in annoyance at the memory.

Wilbur tried to get up but his limbs felt too heavy to even try and move. He tossed his blanket over his shoulders and forced himself to stand, he grunted as his limbs protested and nearly forced him to sit back down.

Wilbur didn't listen though and he walked to the door, his hands shook as he twisted the doorknob and open the door, he stumbled outside of his bedroom and stood unsteadily in his place before continuing down the hallway.

He eventually reached the living room and was halfway to the couch when his legs finally gave out from exhaustion, he was crumpling to the ground when someone caught him.

Wilbur looked up to see Phil, his face was painted with concern and worry as he helped Wilbur up. "You're lucky that you don't have a patrol today." Phil said as he walked Wilbur over to the couch, "You don't want to be passing out on patrol." He finished, Wilbur collapsed onto the couch after he said that.

Phil sat next to Wilbur and pulled him up to a sitting position, Wilbur blinked tiredly as Phil finally spoke, "You look horrible mate." He spoke gently, "Have you been sleeping?"

Wilbur shook his head over so slightly before leaning back onto Phil. His father quickly wrapped his arms around him as a sign of comfort before continuing.

"I knew something was wrong." He admitted quietly, "But I hadn't seen you in so long, it was hard to see if my suspicion was true." He continued as Wilbur relaxed his wings.

"Do you want to talk about it?" Phil asked quietly, Wilbur's eyes teared up, he felt words clogging in his throat, as if something was holding them back.

"It's hard," Wilbur began after a long silence, "being a hero." Phil rubbed his back reassuring and wrapped a wing around him as the words Wilbur was saying poured out of him as if the emotional wall he built broke.

"Everyone looks up to you, You can't mess up it they get hurt." Wilbur said, "But I messed up so badly, I can't deal with the thought of death on my hands." Wilbur said as his eyes teared up at the thought.

"But I can't protect them all either- but I have to, I need to!" Wilbur continued, the tears poured down faster as he clutched his fathers shirt.

"What type of hero am I if I can't protect anyone?" He added quietly, Wilbur loved being a hero, but he often had quiet panics if the thoughts and realizations built up too high.

"Shift's going to return one day and I won't be able to stop him." Phil winced at the mention of Shift, Wilbur continued though, "He killed Zero so easily." He choked out, he buried his head on Phil's shoulder as his father quietly whispered empty reassurances.

"He could kill anyone so easily dad." Wilbur whispered fearfully, Phil froze for a second before going back to comforting his son, "I'm scared." He admitted quietly before choking back his tears again.

Phil quietly hushed him but Wilbur went on, "I'm scared that I'll lose you and Techno," Wilbur began, Phil felt his own eyes tear up at the thought.

"I'm scared that I'll lose Tommy. He's a gremlin but he doesn't have a power to defend himself with- Shift could target him and he could get killed." Wilbur said, he was sobbing exhausted tears at this point.

"And Dream! He's already met the villain, he's told me all about what Shift did to him- and Dream isn't even talking to me anymore so I wouldn't be able to know if he's alive!" Wilbur cried, his knuckles were turning white from how strong his grip on Phil's shirt was.
