Thanks to living in holoX, I was now a more active member. I would normally spend the day in the Burgundy Detective Agency and wait for any cases that would come my way. After that, I would be in Lui's office in the late afternoon until before dinner and be busy helping her with her inhumane paperwork.

Getting involved with the administrative side of holoX made me realize how naive I was. holoX had connections everywhere. We had contacts in Miyako's local government and even Yamato's parliamentary members. Even the Adventurer's Guild, Merchant Guild, Mage Guild, and even the Kageyama Clan were places where we had influence.

To make matters more impressive, I had no idea that holoX existed. Even Master Shellin's data had no traces of them. Their tracks were completely hidden and those who knew them were keeping the secret effectively.

holoX was funded from Lui's pockets. She was a stockholder of many companies and invested in many businesses. According to her, Yamato's stock market was very easy to read and so, she could make lots of money easily.

Aside from Lui's money, they would often sell the results of Koyori's research. Koyori was an expert in magical technology and she would produce inventions here and there. She would then sell what she invented and let others take credit for it. When I asked her why she was doing it instead of patenting it herself and getting passive income, she replied that she didn't care about money. She just loved researching and selling her inventions allowed her to continue doing what she liked without any problems.

Iroha's income was also helpful. She was an A-ranked adventurer in the Adventurer's Guild and she completed high-risk-high-rewards quests on her own. There were times when she was about to be promoted as an S-ranked adventurer but she would always refuse it since she'd rather stay at A-ranked.

And then there was Sakamata. She was a registered bounty hunter and dealt with jobs that shouldn't be brought to light. If holoX needed to do a dirty job such as assassination, she was the woman for the job.

I still need to see Laplus in action first though because every time I saw her, she was just lazing around. She wasn't doing anything that could contribute but for some reason, everyone else was respecting her.

In any case, holoX was an amazing organization for its size. There were only six of us and yet we could do significant things that could change the world. And yet here I was, a simple detective who was only good at investigations.

I was putting my clothes in a bag and was about to send them to a laundry cleaning service. holoX trusted a certain company to handle their clothes. For example, Sakamata's clothes would sometimes have blood on it thanks to one of her jobs and yet that company wouldn't question anything and just clean it.

While I was walking down the halls of holoX, I saw a black garment on the floor. It was actually Sakamata's mask. Now that I thought about it, I never saw Sakamata's eyes. She was quiet and cold and for my entire stay here so far, she always wore it, even during meals.

In any case, I picked up her mask and placed it in my bag. She must've dropped this when she was sending her laundry. If that's the case, then I should let the laundry service clean this one as well.

With that over, I walked towards the executive office where Lui was working. It was currently the weekend and so, I could spend the entire day in holoX. I wasn't required to do any work but I didn't like wasting my time so I decided to help Lui out.

"Oh? You're going to help me today too?" Lui looked up from her desk after I entered the room.

"I have nothing better to do", I replied.

She gave me a stack of papers and I began my work. Things were fine until Lui's Excellular rang.

"Detective Sakasaki, there's been an emergency. I need your investigative skills", she had a serious look on her face after hanging up.
