With loud music playing, Akaru walked towards the mic and grinned. Before the lyrics were supposed to start, he threw his jacket and struck a pose.

He might be an arrogant jerk but his singing was good. Grabbing his shoulders, waving his arms, and doing other dance moves, Akaru put on a wonderful performance despite being intoxicated.

However, his eyes had a hint of sorrow. His singing was passionate and his movements were amazing but I had a feeling that there was something more to it. Was he trying to say goodbye to his bandmates which he hated?

The song was named "Unreachable Venus." It was a love song about a man working hard to attain the love of a woman. However, his frustration got into him when he sacrificed everything only to realize that the woman was already gone. The "Venus" was supposedly a planet from another world that couldn't be reached. There was also a beautiful goddess with the same name from that world's mythology who's an expert in love.

In any case, I heard that Akaru was the composer for their songs. His lyrics accompanied by the instrumentals contributed greatly to their success. It couldn't be helped if he would think that the band wouldn't get anywhere without him.

After a few minutes, the performance was over. Akaru smirked and sat down before wiping off his sweat.

"Hey, detective. You like my song?" he asked me.

"Yeah. It's good", I answered.

"Be sure to look at your woman. You don't want her to get the wrong idea", he smiled.

Before he should tell me how I should look at Lui, he should really try to look at our situation and not get the wrong idea. But I guess things worked better like this.

Besides, the way he smiled was different from the arrogant jerk who insulted his bandmates. It was as if he was passing down a lesson he learned by regretting a mistake.

"Hey, Nobuto. Pass me one of those breads, will ya?" Akaru returned to his arrogant smirk.

Nobuto took a piece of bread from the pile on the table and tossed it to him. Akaru caught it without any problems and started munching.

"This'll be the last time we'll hang out like this. I'll be heading to the top with my solo debut!" Akaru laughed.

The other members of his band had a grim look as Akaru finished eating. Something was off. My gut feeling was telling me that there was a meaning behind his attitude and if I didn't clear things up, things would never be the same again.

"So I'm saying goodbye to this shi-"

He couldn't finish his words since he suddenly grabbed his chest. Akaru collapsed to the ground and coughed up blood.

"RIHITO!" Mysta shouted.

"Damn it!" I immediately rushed to his side.

However, Akaru stopped moving. His pulse was already gone and he wasn't breathing. That only meant one thing.

"What happened?!" Misaki asked after she entered the room.

"A-A-Akaru is... Akaru is", Sarah whimpered.

"Dead", Mysta continued her sentence.

"Yeah... And that criminal is bold too", I stood up.

There was someone who pulled off a crime in front of two detectives...

"The victim is Akaru Gosho, the lead vocalist of Loded Starz. He and his bandmates are in this karaoke booth to party after a day of practice. Am I correct?" a female samurai asked.
